if I said "I did nothing and lived off my savings" would that bother you? Not respecting living off the backs of others I understand. Not respecting someone for enjoying extended time off, however, I do not understand.
Suppose I answered "I took an extended vacation where I mostly relaxed and rested. I could afford to without having a major negative impact on my financial future, so I did." Would that bother you?
There are many illogical criteria often cited as reasons to or not to hire someone. This one, however, has always irked me somewhat as I both work for an employer that doesn't care if you spent some small part of your adult life not working, and I do like to, once every few years, take some extended leave if I can afford to do so. While on that leave I try to do as little as possible, and when I come back I will be rested and rejuvenated.
The lack of showing responsibility by not doing something is a turn-off.
I'd be interested to hear the reasoning behind this. How does not working show a lack of responsibility? We work to provide for ourselves. If I have the means to provide for myself without needing a job for an extended period and I choose to take advantage of it to take my time making sure when I do need employment I find some place where I am happy, how does that equate to being irresponsible?
If I had the means I've never work again. I'd use my time persuing my interests and hobbies. I'd take the time to enjoy life and contribute to society in ways that I enjoy doing.
Yet I'm irresponsible?
If I must work under someone else then I might as well make sure I will enjoy what I do, and that will benefit my employer as much as it does me. I don't care if it takes 5 days or 5 months to find such a position.
My linksys wrt610n provided 6to4 functionality out of the box. I didn't even know it was working perfectly for weeks until I connected to an ipv6 efnet irc server and say the ipv6 address in my host mask.
I didn't know what was going on. IPv6 was turned on by default in my OpenSUSE installation, but I had not configured a tunnel or anything. It even crossed my mind that maybe comcast was doing it. I didn't even know what 6to4 was.
Everything worked though, the dancing turtle, ipv6 irc, websites, etc. All I did was plug in the router and voila, fully working 6to4.
It's funny, I also recently bought this one and love it. It's the best keyboard I've used to date.
The funny part, I couldn't care less about the illumination. It's like a laptop keyboard with much higher manufacturing quality and full sized keys; solid, quiet click and short travel. I'd spend $80 on it w/o the backlight.
Logitech, like many manufacturers, have a large quality gap between their products. The gap is not clearly between price ranges, either. They'd be happy to label a shit keyboard a "gaming" keyboard, bolt on a big lcd screen, and sell it to a WoW moron for $100.
I can agree, however, the the logitech keyboards this article held up are garbage especially that garbage MX one with, exactly, as you said, stiff pudding keys.
Their higher end models like the dinovo, (currently out of production) elite, or the new $80 illuminated keyboard with the slim profile, short travel, and satisfying tactile (yet silent) click are very pleasant to use.
I currently own an elite and illuminated logitech keyboard and love them both. I've had the elite for 5 years now. The illuminated I bought last week so we'll see how it lasts, but they advertise having tested it to 10 million strokes.
I really do not get the loud. hard to press, obscenely long travel model M love. I suppose I never will. I want quiet (for my own ears sake as well as others) and easy to press yet responsive with a clear _tactile_ (not audible) click on activation and short travel.
Your original post was a blatant troll. That is why you were hit by mods. Your original post in no way contributed to the discussion and was written in a way that would only incite reactions. That, my friend, is a troll, and trolls tend to get down moded.
I voted for Obama, but I have no problems with criticism. I have my own reservations, and this story is no doubt disappointing. However, when I'm scanning through an article looking for insightful contributions and some discussion and I encounter some snarky one liner troll I will mod it down if I have the points no matter what the article.
What part of this do you find surprising, exactly?
Yes, funny how the bipartisan investigation found her guilty, then suddenly before the election a hand picked partisan panel cleared her of all charges. Gee, I wonder why nobody took that seriously.
I really never understood the complete ICMP block mentality. You break all sorts of diagnostic tools and you obliterate any meaningful error reporting. I'm personally sick of trying to connect to things that refuse to send me a proper connection refused icmp packet. Instead they make me sit there for a few minutes while the connection attempt just times out on my end.
Just block echos on your broadcast address and stop being so paranoid.
I think you might be missing the point for a cellular modem. It's not meant to be your primary internet gateway for all of your multimedia needs. I have an EVDO modem built into my laptop and a 5GB subscription. The point is when I'm on the road or out of the office working with a client I can send/check e-mail, use jabber, ssh, and load web pages. None of these activities come close to taxing my 5GB limit.
yes.. because clearly in order to make something work for ubuntu you must break it on every single other distribution. Ubuntu and their whacky custom kernel, libraries, filesystem layout... oh wait..
If they're not anamorphic then the black bars are encoded into the video. The resolution is still unchanged. It's just a shame the only options are 16:9 and 4:3. 2.35:1 content also wastes resolution with black bars encoded into the video even if anamorphic, but the authors of 2.35:1 content have little choice.
um, no. There is no resolution difference between widescreen and fullscreen. A bit is set somewhere that indicates "this is 16:9", and that is all. That is why it is called anamorphic widescreen.
Did you just assume what you said, or is this a case of "I read it so it must be true?"
Clearly, wine has not advanced at all since "back in the day". Best to steer clear and not try it again ever. Afterall, if it was bad once, then so shall it always be.
I agree, and I've made a habit of doing just that. I've also made a habit of not hanging out in someones blind spot as that is just an absurdly stupid thing to do.
So wait... first you say you have a problem with libraries that are gpl (i.e. follow that spirit) because you can't make commercial products using them, but then you accuse them of violating that spirit? Did I miss something?
Or perhaps it's that they sell non free licenses that makes you think they are violating it. If they did not do that, however, it still wouldn't invalidate your previous reason for having a problem with Qt which was you can't write proprietary code that links against it.
Also, virtualbox does the same thing. There's a big difference though. Their non free version contains features the free one does not. Qt doesn't do that. However, Qt is deserving of your malice because it's a library, but virtualbox is not because it's an app? Does the "share and share-alike" spirit not apply to apps for some reason?
What if Qt had a dual license option of lgpl vs. commercial. Would you have a problem with it then?
I'm sorry if I'm not making much sense, but I'm trying to make sense of what you are saying. To me, you're not making much sense.
How long will it take before people realize that the GPL is holding Linux back?
Holding Linux back from what, exactly?
Have you stopped to consider you may not quite understand the goals of people who prefer the spirit of the GPL? GPL software developers are accomplishing their goals, but I suspect you may not know or misunderstand what those goals are, or you're so short sighted you think everyone's goals are the same as yours or a for profit software company.
When I write code and release it my goal is quite clear. I want the community to be able to enjoy my code, and I want the communities improvements to that code to be enjoyed by the community as well.
So I ask again, exactly what part of the GPL is holding me back from achieving my goals?
OK, you *do* realize the orange areas in that diagram represent the mirrors field of view, right? Is understanding such a basic diagram really that hard? The blind spots are to the sides of the vehicle behind the drivers fov and in front of or to the side of the mirrors fov.
What makes the fact that part of their property is paved or might have some gravel thrown on it any different than the rest of their property? What if own a square mile of land with a house in the middle and a "driveway" a half mile long connecting to a public road at the end. Should I expect to be able to enforce my desire for uninvited individuals to enter my property and photograph it in that case?
Lets remove the drive way. I simply get between my house and the road half a mile away using an off road capable vehicle. Would the be different, and if so, why? What if my property extended only 10 feet from the walls of my house? Sure, someone could photograph it from 11 feet away, but if their 9 feet away I can tell them to "get off my lawn".
Photographing something from public property may not be something that should be prohibited, but on *my* property if I don't want you there you shouldn't be there camera in hand or not. This is especially true if I have no trespassing and private property signs posted at the entrance.
Google didn't photograph their house from the public road. They drove *onto* their property which was clearly marked and started taking pictures intended to be published publicly.
if I said "I did nothing and lived off my savings" would that bother you? Not respecting living off the backs of others I understand. Not respecting someone for enjoying extended time off, however, I do not understand.

Forgive me. Palin is clearly a highly moral and ethical person. She exudes intelligence, forethought, and and compassion.
Palin 2012!
Yes, funny how the bipartisan investigation found her guilty, then suddenly before the election a hand picked partisan panel cleared her of all charges. Gee, I wonder why nobody took that seriously.
"smoked up" ... "forgot" ... gee, what could he _possibly_ be talking about?

You might want to sit down for this...
NAT is not a firewall.
Try this:
iptables -P INPUT Drop
Suddenly you have the same false sense of safety using a public IP.

I was simply relating my own experience in this area, not implying that each unlawful motorist is also a drug or alcohol addict.
Indeed, you did not imply it. You outright stated it:
without exception they all also has a chemical or alcohol abuse problem
your sig throws a 404
I have membership accounts with emusic.com and magnatune.com. There, now you know someone who is buying music.
