    If not, you better rethink things in mind. Traditional gender roles are much over rated.

    As the money supply in any market goes up (more money available), prices rise.

    Unless the money supply increase proportional to population. If the money supply didn't increase and the population did you'd have deflation. Which, as I recall, is good deal worse than inflation.

    Not there's necessarily anything run with inflation in the first place. Runaway inflation but low constant levels of inflation? Not really.

    It certainly implies that there's systematic problem. Somewhere. Where precisely? Is it partly because people making hiring decisions are gender biased? Yes, probably. Is it because women are bombarded with a "business for men not girls" message? Yes, probably that too.

    Look, I'm not saying there should mandatory quotas or anything. But it is an issue, and it is worth investigating.

    There are only 500 CEO jobs in the fourtune 500, and expecting to get promoted to one of them is just silly.

    Nice strawman. No, not everyone in would should expect to become a F500 CEO, however 500 people at a time are. Given that women comprise roughly 51% of the population, and yet only hold about 2-3% of the positions in question, it should really not be that difficult to see that there is some form of glass ceiling/gender bias in place.

    And it's not just ocurring at the top-level of management, it runs straight through the different levels.

    If you want to be President start your own country!

    There are millions of female entrepreneurs. One, however, doesn't normally become the head of a F500 company by starting it.

    Men see other men (and women) promoted ahead of them, too. It happens all the time.

    Yeah, but 99% of Fortune 500 CEOs and majority of company execs are male. If there's a pool of male candidates for promotion and a pool of female candidates, and people picked for promotion come mostly from the male pool, well, that kind of looks like sexism to me.

    You know what, not a lot of femals were in my CS classes either. Why?

    Because society has a strong sexist bias. Because girls are told "math is a boy's subject". Because girls are given the message that they shouldn't go into computer science and math.

    If you just sit there thinking that there's nothing you can do about racism/sexism, then yes you are taking part in it. You don't need to do much to help end it though. Just stop perpetuating the views you have and call bullshit when other people express.

    In effect we can downsize government by just not voting for government.

    Which might work great when you have 50 people. But so great for any community of reasonable size. That's why there's been government since pretty much the day hunters and gatherers first settled down.

    Wrong. Oil demand in the U.S. goes down because Katrina damages processing and receiving equipment, oil price goes UP so that OPEC can make up the difference.

    The prices in the states went up, because there was less refined oik available in the states.

    Up here in Canada there was a brief bit price gauging, but prices have remained constant. Our oil/gas comes from different sources.

    Right and the reason it's not profitable is because the price is too low. In order for extracting oil from, say, the tar sands to be profitable the price has to climb above a threshold, be it $100 or $200+.

    Oil will never get cheaper. There is lots of oil still there, but it requires more and more expensive methods. Which means less resources for the rest of the economy, which means moving towards a collapse of the current Western culture and economy.

    Note in my comment I said "usually". There are often exceptions to rules, that does not invalidate rules.

    Canada, the US, and most of Western Europe have tradionational "big" government and have arguably the highest levels of personal freedoms.

    Latin and South America have over the last half century tended to have notorious lack of personal freedoms. They've also tended to have far right/military dictatorships. Ditto for number of African countries. Note that a strong military dictatorship is not the same as "big" government. The military might be strong, but there's pretty much no funding for anything else.
    Ditto again for a number of Asian countries.

    Yes, some big government countries don't support personal freedoms and some small government states do, but those tend to be exceptions rather than rules.

    The countries with much less freedom of expression are usually those with no government, weak government, or puppet governments.

    Places with "big government" (meaning more than just hiring thugs to act as enforcers) have greater prosperity and more personal freedoms. Granted, sometimes the governments get too big, but big government is historically beneficial.

    The moral was just because she was asking for it didn't make it right.

    Dressing scantily doesn't mean that you're asking for anything. The fact that she had trouble trying the case because she "asked for it" simply demonstrates how ingrained sexism is in society.

    So in a nutshell, _some_ rape victoms are idiots because they do or did things that encouraged thier rape. I'm not sure how fequently this happenes or if it would even be reported this way anymore

    So we should just keep women locked up indoors and isolated from society? Otherwise you're saying that women need to keep up their guard 24/7, and if she slips for a moment it's her fault because she's an idiot.

    I can go do a party and get piss drunk, no problem. If a women was to go to a party and drink and then get raped by another party goer, you'd be calling her an idiot. Supporting a double standard, telling women what they can and cannot do, and blaming them instead of the rapist does not deal with the problem. It's horribly sexist and ignorant. Instead of dictating to women, try and civilize men.

    No. Most rape is committed by acquaintances or friends of the victim. Fathers, uncles, friends, boyfriends. People who can have emotional or physical power and can get away with it. It really has nothing to do with the attire, focusing on the clothing of the victim is both shifting blame from the rapist to them and ignoring the actual problem.

    The same article that you linked stated that in overall sales of fiction books, romance made up 33%. With the other 77% being sci-fi, mystery, and other fiction.
    And that's only fiction. Which is a small fraction (20%) of non-fiction book sales. There are countless books written on any topic and interest.

    That boys are having trouble with literacy isn't because there aren't books being published to attract. Those who like fantasy can find fantasy, or sci-fi, or war historys, or......

    It isn't appealing to men, it is appealing to large companies (comprised of both men and women) to help change the current situation. Writing a top tier game, nowadays requires millions of dollars. It's lot harder to get that off the ground than writing a novel.

    But more to the point, when an area is marketed as a male domain, like say mathematics until very, very recently, it discourages female participation from the outset. Pretty much the entire video gaming industry and culture is aimed at a male audience. With sometimes not overt sexism.

    If a girl as kid or teen thinks that "Video gaming is for guys", they're not going to be interested in getting involved at probably any stage. It has nothing to do women's abilities to create games, but that a lack interest in the industry means there relatively few women in positions to make changes from within.

    The message is that if the game publishers just stop pushing the "Gaming is for guys" message, the female participation rate, both as gamers and developers, will increase.

    So what are they then. They believe in God and Christ, so they sure as hell aren't atheists. They probably aren't Muslim or Budhists either.

    According to the more rigid Protestants, the Catholics aren't really Christians. Does that mean that a Catholic who believes he's Christian actually isn't.

    The Bible is the source of the Christian faith. Anyone who has faith in the word of the Bible and in the existence of God and Christ is a Christian. Different people and faiths can have different interpretations of the Word, and people can make mistakes while still having faith in the Word. Being a Christian isn't a worldly thing like being President, it's a faith based initiative. As long as someone has the faith in God and Christian they are Christian.

    If I'm a citizen of a country and break the rules, I am still a citizen of the country.

    I have about 750 CDs. I know people who have 1000+ CDs. Some with 3-4K+ CDs/LPs. Depends how much you like music.

    That's a remarkably stupid comment. While I do not celebrate Christmas per se, I fully celebrate a winter celebration/feast/holiday. It's a time to have fun with friends and family, and add colour in the middle of bleak and cold winter. The winter celebration is in no way solely a Christian concept. Besides, my workplace shuts down at Christmas, I have no choice in the matter.

    That's a sneaky statement. "Christians can't do bad things, therefore they must evil atheists". You know, they believe in Christ, the God, and the Bible. That makes them Christian. They may not have full understanding of the concept but it's the believe they faith in, so that's what they are. They're Christian, albeit errant Christians.

    And millions of Christians murder and rape people too. Given that people who identify as atheists make up 10% of the population in North America, Christian murders and rapists probably outnumber them by an order of magnitude.
