hey, it is a thought.
So many people are afraid to buy and use a computer because they have heard horror stories from someone they know, mostly due to Windows shameless instability. And people who do own computers are not simply going to give up on all of their Windows software. Until Wine can run every Windows program at an acceptable speed (maybe use multiple processors) people are not going to switch.

Especially since Steinberg was starting to port its Cubase product.
There are so many musicians who are tired of Windows regularly losing their work.

I have seen machines like these in arcades that
have card games, tetris, and bubble bobble. Usually girls are playing on them.
Not to say that girls do not ever play Capcom Vs Marvel or NBA Jam, but how many girls do you know like to play complex games that require a couple of years honing your skills to play them well?
I never was good at Quake or Doom until I got into college and spent way too much time playing them. And I still do not have a very good aim.
I have not done any benchmarking on this,
but I would presume running a distributed.net
client under QNX would be an excellent way to get
maximum use of your processors time.

Does anyone know why they did not include FreeBSD in the SpecWEB 99 test?
I think a neat test would be to network two of the exact same machines together with a ethernet or gigabit card, one running FreeBSD or Linux and the other running Windows 2000 server.
Then have them simultaneously ping flood each other while fetching files via ftp and http and port scanning each other. Have the FreeBSD or Linux machine running KDE or GNOME with a secretary running WordPerfect and typing a letter dictating by her boss while she does not even know that the machine is doing all this stuff on it to have it compare equally to the Windows 2000 GUI with the same office setup.
