If AOL was to start telling these people how to code it..... Just look at what happened to netscape when they got bought out. A good documentary about big biz mucking up good sw projects is on jamie zawinkis (sp?) page. he was one of the original developers at netscape and eventually left in disgust.

Perhaps some more OSS expo's...... im sure theres Unix expo's of some sort, but how about one tailored to the open source revolution...not just linux or bsd specificially...

Um, ok, guess what, you never get to interview one of those labels artists again . The almighty buck is at work here. Artists behind the scenes love napster, and the record labels loathe it. one of the biggest gripes Ive had about the open source community. The OSS community has developed quite a few large scale applications, and without the aid of proper planning and requirment collection. If a professional organization did this they would be eating ramen noodles in a few months. Ive always thought the OSS community needs some sort of standard for requirment collection. I for one, have so many ideas come into my head at once that i _need_ to document ideas and requirments. Now imagine that with what could literally be dozens to hundreds of people.

If you vote for anybody than either of them, people, your wasting your vote. Dont be so eager to give up a right that many before us have literally died for. Dont waste it. Be objective about the two candiates, and pick one. Im not going to go into detail as to who i prefer, I just say this. When you use your constitutinal right , dont waste it. Dont take it for granted. Im sorry, but using your vote as a form of protest wont be effective. Just pick one who you can most favor.

There is a growing sense of anger in this country, and it doesnt seem to get better. He stated the facts. He wasnt blaming the internet for all violence. Lets look at the facts that speak for themselves. These children that did this attrocity in comlumbine spent most of their free time, playing games and surfing the net. They obviously had a lack of human interaction, and because of this, developed twisted views of life. You remember being 16 im sure. Imagine adding the isolation of the internet and dark subject matter to your already confused mind. Bad juju. Anyway, internet or no internet, just because violence may be down, doesnt necessarily mean that the motives behind those violent acts arent different. The 80's it was Ozzy, the 00's its the net. The thick-headedness these people exhibited has been down right sickening. The fact that they will port a major framework, thus enabling linux to act as a contender in the marketplace, is a remarkable milestone for the Linux movement. Once these bigger companies start seeing, and accepting, Linux, more progress will be made. I know it sounds like big bad MS moving in on our territory...but think about it. What if MS opens their eyes and learns something? What if they actually take the knowledge and build windows to be better and as reliable? Sure, its a long shot, but I think its a good stepping stone for both sides. We can co-exist, and It will happen, people just need to lose the ignorance
