Because it's not adding a new interface it's connecting to the existing one. You want a tech to be able to correct say broken nic drivers. It's not meant for application sharing etc.
Look like about what we have had for years on server gear. I do hope you can disable that 6 digit key bit (making it worthless for servers and off hours). Has this not been around since version 6 and they are on version 8 now?
They have every reason to make sure they do not fail in the first year, they people they are selling these to also want to insure they fail ever 2 years.
Unless it's going to reduce there under contract replacement costs smartphones will not have these. US phone companies want your phone to break every couple of years so you buy a new one with a new contract so they can have horrid service.
I would have no problem paying two parts a fixed cost for x sized pipe and a variable cost for my 95% usage and y for calling support for a local problem. But like any other utility I should only be paying the rel cost of that usage in the states that's less than a buck a megabit. The problem with the usage based billing from these companies is it's like txt messaging rates, they are not looking to make sure that people pay for what they use but rather want to have a huge financial windfall.
ISP's basically have 4 costs related to service, the cost of the local loop from the co to your house, For DSL/Fios this is dedicated bandwidth for cable/wimax it's shared but they can add more bits so that a given set is shared between less and less people. After that it should be a dark fiber network (if not there complete idiots or somebody is forcing them to us lit glass as exhortation prices) some L3 switch gear (read realy cheap compared to a real router) and finally transit links at the major peering points. If they are a major player they do not pay for transit (they might on paper to there parent company) 10ge and up transit is under a dollar a meg 95 percentile. The final cost is support and it's a big one as most end users are idiots.
Does that mean since I'm around the block from my ISP, only called once with a local issue and I needed them to help troubleshoot (failing cable modem tested fine to it's IP but the analog side was twitchy) so there cost to give me server would be low. I find it deplorable that AT&T is capping it's users it pays nothing from transit and can put up it's own glass on telephone poles nearly anywhere it wants to get to and it's DSL service rides on top of existing infrastructure for the last mile. Buying switch and dwdm gear is not that expensive and is a long term investment, maybe if you keep buying the cheapest thing to get you buy so your next quarters financials look better it might be expensive doing that every quarter.
Over ssh, did this with a couple linksys routers years ago.

To be a crook would require that he had a financial gain. His morals do not have to coincide with yours he like many others see information as something that should be open, that people should be able to invent, create and expand on things. He paid his dept to society for violating the law, you can argue whether those laws are moral or just. I think he has found better ways to get at the information he was interested in that coincide with the law.
Usual I'm not a lawyer etc but yes downloading something you already have the rights to is legal. You may need to show you owned a copy before the time you downloaded it to a judge though. The uploading you often do as part of downloading is not though (in the US).
I would still not agree with you statement that a bunch of drives from various manufactures is more robust. I've seen the odd bad batch but never had a problem and I take care of several thousand drives in raid for over a decade. Cache will not cover the issues created unless your lightly loaded.
Don't laugh they are thinking about it. This will only change when fear stops getting people elected. Sorry to say but in my entire life this has worked tough on crime tough on drugs etc etc etc.
Because unless the politicians that authorized this are removed they will enact shield laws making the TSA agents unable to held accountable. The we were only following orders people did not get tried by there government but another.
I hope you do not want any performance. Mixing drives even firmwares can send your iops through the floor. For a bulk storage that's reliable this is fine don't try and get any performance out of it.
Can be sued, yea no effort there. How about a 100k penalty (held by a third party) if they are unable to get a court order within x time and if that order is overthrown. Yes they can shut down a site if it's realy important but they wont start doing it at the drop of a hat.
Yup thanks for making the numbers work out by risking your children. Vaccines suffer from the free rider economic problem he gets nearly all the benefits as long as most of the population is vaccinated without any of the potential downsides of getting vaccinated himself.
Remember depending on where and how you live the measles vaccine still can have a higher chance of serious to deadly outcome as apposed to the chance of getting measles and having a serious to deadly outcome. Having a pediatrician that's used to servicing hacidic(sp) Jews helps as they can have religious issues with vaccines. When I did the math for my son he had much higher chance of dying from the vaccine than measles oddly he did not get it. It was also about the only one he needed to skip the others were less dangerous and/or he had a high chance of a bad outcome not getting it.
I'm not arguing for more private schools I'm saying that the pubic have a ton of non student facing cruft that's not adding to the education of the kids and can be cut.
As to the argument about cheery picking yes they are free to they do not get any money from the government why should they not? In my area there is a singular exception that does cherry pick kindergarten is also 20k a year and ti goes up from there.
What part of yes they do take special ed kids did you not understand. They do not take kids that are a vegetable or will never get past the level of a 6 year old etc. Like I said there are better kinder places for them. Mainstreaming failed a long time ago warehousing them for 20 ish years and then giving them a mcjob where they can be abused by a 19 year old manager and live in a group home slum at the cost of hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars to the tax payers is indefensible. Were closing down a wonderful facility that was a working farm and took nothing from the taxpayers after it was established. Private schools don't take them neither should public IMHO.
Where you got that I'm pro school privatization is beyond me. I'm pro single town school districts, it lets the local parents guide there children's education. In larger cities I could see distributing into neighborhoods rather than city wide units. I do believe that there is far far to much cruft in the public schools 1 administrator for every 6 teachers is far to many, outsource the things that make sense. I show 4 people working on payroll for a system with under 400 teachers I have run small to midsized companies payroll was outsourced at a few bucks per person per month 4 full time positions is insane.
Please no that program should have never happened. Making a reusable do all vehicle for going to space was never a great idea. Weight is so critically important, sure reuse the same modular design over and over. You want a do all thing in orbit and a cheap way to get stuff there. The shuttle was designed to push money all over the country not get to space efficiently.
Yea so so hard to get in academically, they made him print his name and count to 20. Basic things a parent could be expected to teach there child at the pre school level. I may be mean but the special ed kids I remember from school came in 2 groups the separate classroom most complicated job they might be able to do is mcjob, these used to have a good life at the farm and the one around her was cash positive it actually made money while taking care of it's residents cradle to grave is need be. Of course that place is being phased out as mainstreaming is the rage cant let them actually have anything nice off to the group slum and a mcjob like farm work is somehow degrading (cows for those that could deal with it apples for those that needed something slower). The others needed a bit of help with one thing or the other and they do take that sort.
Riddle me this why is the local top 10 in the state performing school district 7.5k when the city is 13.5 or nearly double? They both take all students. The excess of management is public schools is atrocious. Special needs are not helped by more management. My district's high school has 90 teachers 24 for special ed and 28 support staff (I took out the lunch ladies, custodians, librarians etc) that's 1 for every 6 or so teachers seems a bit top heavy and I'm not even counting the district offices 40 or so non student facing positions. When a private school can do a better job for less with a grand total of 3 non teachers.
It's little things in private schools, hot lunch is from a pizza place down the road a little old Italian lady makes them real food at a reasonable price her children and her grand children went to the school. The public schools have 3 lunch lady's who don't cook anything ( reminds me of what you find in a truck stop vending machine). They borrow a local churches hall to put on the school play.
Having a district based school system sucks. Have one we pay 2/3 of the school budget while putting 1/3 the students into the district. The other town has a HUGE retirement community they will vote down anything that up's there taxes. I get to make up the difference. Now my son attends a private school there administrative overhead is a principle and a secretary/bookkeeper (oh and a full time school nurse) for a school twice the size of what we have in town (it's k-8 vs k-4 5-8). There loaded cost per student is 5k vs my districts 7.5k vs the city next doors 13k. Guess which one has the best test scores and graduation rates.
That was my point the US help desk with the same practices as the Indian one had the same results, it's not the location is the get a cheap body that can read a script attitude. Granted in India the body's are cheaper if you pay what you would pay for a US run group you might actually get better quality, monkeys reading scripts will always be bad.
Try hiring a pile of cheap as you can get them staff in the US you will have the same issues. With the rare exceptions this seems to be the case. Last time a help desk fell under my purview I quickly figured out that some of the lifers at best were ok, most were looking to do the least work and not get fired. Compare that to the stellar kids we got from a few local schools jobs board but will not stay more than a few years.
He said something that religion people believe in was provably wrong that is fact. I can not prove there is no but when they start disagreeing with entire fields of study a reasonable person can and should call BS. Having a teacher tell your children the truth should never be wrong. Hell my son's catholic school wont even try and push creationism as science. By definition religion views are not nor can they ever be fact, religion requires faith and fact does not.
So pretty much teaching fact is OK spouting your unprovable views is not. The problem is? School should never teach any religions views but they should teach fact or at least well established theory (and say it's not proven yet).
