A lot of the AMD boards support ECC RAM but newegg doesn't show it. Most every AM2 motherboard supports it. My main workstation at home is a Phenom II with 8GB ECC RAM mainly for that reason.
"It points out that CodePlex does not particularly care about freedom"
Neither does RMS - "If programmers deserve to be rewarded for creating innovative programs, by the same token they deserve to be punished if they restrict the use of these programs."
I have trouble supporting someone who thinks I should be punished for doing what I want with my work.
""If programmers deserve to be rewarded for creating innovative programs, by the same token they deserve to be punished if they restrict the use of these programs." RMS
It's funny that when I ask that question very few people actually answer it. Some do say that I should write horrible programs that require support but that just isn't me.
In "this copyright is evil and should be abolished world" that so many seam to want I would have to charge full price for the first copy because then they would be able to resell it / give it away.
Why should I be limited in that way? And who would
"The president, who has a sixth-grader and a third-grader, wants schools to add time to classes, to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go."
Was reading the article really that difficult?
Perhaps, just perhaps, being assured some level of protection is responsible for some of the large investments required to make our current science / tech work? Do you think Intel would spend so much on R&D if anyone could simply copy their work?
And plenty of art is available for free, why not download it instead?
What give you the right to use my work that way?

RMS says that since I write closed source programs that I deserve punishment. Do you agree with that way of thinking?

Free software isn't a religion.
Nothing in that post shows that it was the fault of any DRM. Do you have evidence to the contrary?

How did DRM negatively affect you?
I spend X hours/days developing a program for sell. How do I make money for it your ideal world?
I write a computer program - if I can't charge for it how should I get paid?
The author has a grudge against nVidia. Read some of his past work paying close attention to how many times he has been wrong before.

Funny the DRM in Windows 7 / Vista doesn't appear to be stopping me from doing anything. What has it stopped you from doing?
"Why do you think many people prefer cracked/pirated versions of software (or DVD's) to the originals?" Because they don't have to pay for it.
Since day one.
Copyleft depends on copyright law.
The abolition of copyright will make it impossible for the sharing portions of the GPL to be enforced.

An exception for your friends. Guess they are getting the hang of politics after all.

Have you thought about what your plan would do to the progress of science / art / technology?
Why would I support the right of others to use my work without permisson?
How quickly people forget that the GPL relies on copyright to function.
