This is the same GNU project that 'fired' the GNU/Hurd OS lead because the lead wanted a MORE FREE license for the docs than RMS.

One reason may be the 1,200 USD per developer to develope closed source apps for KDE.
Gnome doesn't have such a charge.

No. The keep adding & adding to the same limited project so the project grows to a 16 Billion monster is bogus.
Most, if not all, of those projects that you named didn't go over budge by such an obsene amount.
