I think you're thinking of the TPS - Telphone Preference Service.
Two of my clients were telemarketing firms that bought and cold-called people, but by law we had to write routines to scrub people on a list from the TPS onto a "Do Not Call" list - theres a fairly big fine if you register with TPS and after 28days you're still getting cold calls.
They also run a similar program called the FPS to stop you getting UCF (unsolicited commercial faxes).
Yeah - well I'm just north of London (Hatfield - the train crash - you know it) but I've just got a tech job oop north (Warrington near Liverpool) so I'll be moving there soon - drop me a line.
I wonder if this will run Linux 7k or is there a strongARM port of linux yet - 100MHz off a palmtop in linux - love to see the compile times on that, actually, love to see X run off that!
Not quite true - there's a book called Cracking DES that was written by the EFF in the USA, and then sold all over the world. It contains the source code to the DES algorithim and plans on how to construct a chip to crack it, all of which can be scanned in anywhere in the world and OCR'd and compiled.
Grrr - stupid preview button in the wrong place - the URL i meant to attach is here

If only they did the same with e-mails :)
Well, there is a cleaner in Pulp Fiction - Mr Wolf - he comes in to deal with The Bonnie Situation after Marvin gets his face blown off.

OK, a slightly different idea of how this could be done, integrating all-in-one.
The company I work for is a reseller for SalesLogix, a sales automation tool.
It's used to track contacts, accounts and oppurtunities for sales, includes a reporting tool (either Crystal or IQ Reports).
The database uses either Oracle, MS-SQL or Interbase, so a Linux Oracle database is possible, but you do need a Win9x/NT to run actual server.
It has features built in to syncronise changes with remote sites (other stores) and remote users (salesman on the road with laptops).
As i said, all the client software is for Win9x/NT, but I'm sure if a lot of people want a Linux version, they'll look into it.
There is also a WWW interface for it, but this needs MS-IIS and ASP to run.
As for the POS side, it can be completly changed and new screens/code can be written for it, so it shouldn't be much to do that.
Ah well, just my 0.02 euros.

The GA686BXD (Dual PII) doesn't have this jumber, but the GA686C (Single PII) does.
