Using mysql and the windows mysql ODBC driver to use Access as a client is fine. But why don't you do both. You can do what your boss told you to do plus show him an alternative that you think is better. If you can convince him that web based is the way to go then that will be great. And if you fail at your attempt or he thinks it is not a viable altenative then,oh well, you allready have what he wants. Either way you win.

I disagree. Here at the ITLAB at MUSC we follow a very similar engineering process to XP. You can check it out on our web site. We also produce quality code with a small amount of people and who are not the most talented programmers. Now we are talented, just not the most.:) Anyway, XP programming talks about simple design and short releases. Along with that and following the tools based way that UNIX is built on, we are able to create tools that solve one problem and combining these tools we can solve a big problem or come up with a solution to many problems. Also, the problem about knowing what the user wants is solved with rapid prototyping. I think XP does something similar. Check out Our about page.

The one thing I was disappointed in (well, maybe not disapponted) is the false advertisement of Milo getting it on with women. I thought it was funny that the trailer showed a "geek" getting it on with all these hot girls. But when I saw the movie, I see nothing. He does not even kiss the fellow NURV employee/geek and in the trailer it shows him in bed with her. I was pumped about the potential "geek" making out, but sadly there was nothing. Just a little with Milo's girlfriend. Oh well. Maybe next time a movie like this there will be geeks getting it on.
My favorite old games are all the games in the space quest series. I can play some of them with Sarien the SGI interpretor. I also like and want to play Microprose Sid Meirs Pirates. I loved that game. It was great.
I think we should genetically engineer "smart" apes. It would be great. We could domesticate them and then make them smart enough to do certain tasks that no one else wants to do. They could do yard work. They could be toll booth workers. They could do house work. It would be great. Then , maybe, in the future they would evolve to understand english and eventually overtake the planet.
And those damn bloody apes would then make us into their slaves!!:) I would not mind Corneilius being my leader though.:)
There is one magazine that is still pretty good. "The Communications of the ACM". I think there is not any bias to any company. Did we forget about this magazine? Does anyone read it?:)
Ok. I did not want to post to this but there was this pulling urge for me to do it. So I LOVE Sunny Day Realestate. I code to it. I play quake to them. And you should to!:)
I believe I am a liberal geek. I am open minded to many things. But I do not vote and I hate the government. is this contradictary? maybe its just that most of us are young and confused. Like me.
