The reason the word is considered disgustingly offensive is because male society has created it specifically to offend. It's specifically considered derogatory not just because of the nature of the area- I mean, you might call someone a dick, but it's much more offensive to call them a cunt- why? Because men have decided that referring to anyone in the female connotation is more offensive and derogatory. Thereby reflecting those same derogatory feelings onto the entire gender. And that is why the word is so fucking offensive- because that's how it's meant!
