...looking forward to replacing my ultra clocked duron which has given me nothing but joy for next to nothing money-wise, with one of the crap Intel's trying to push, claiming it's a 'processor'.
I forget where I read it, but no doubt it spawned from a link here, but the last 3 chips Intel has made have been a) massively overpriced for the power, and b) the same chip.:P
You should probably start with the basics of computing such as what the tv screen is called, what's inside and what it does (not pixie dust:)) After you've covered how it works, move on to the good stuff like OS's, software, and touch on how that works.
Be sure to explain the whole story behind Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and the Woz (include some of his pranks to keep them interested). After you've told them about WHAT can be done with computers, show them how to do it in whatever way possible. As users above me have mentioned, LOGO would be a good start, but it really depends on what aspect of computers you are focusing on, be it the internet, text processing, whatever.:) --
Think about it...new, microsoft -> buggy.
And really, this wasn't completely unexpected - in fact, any self-respecting sysadmin (using windows [even for a personal web-server], almost an oxymoron) would have PLANNED on making an update sometime in the near future. --
Chris Hansen, the guy at Earthlink knows what's going on and the Un-'napsterization' of the internet is fruitless. He states "The stronger the protection, the stronger the attack," --
"Soon you won't only be able to capture how many people stopped by, but who they were"
I don't know about anyone else...but I'm not sure I want the store to automatically find out my name, address, etc. by me just walking in. But there's always online ordering of pretty much anything you'd want to buy in stores. --
I'd like to show that little gizmo off, but I think it'd involve selling most of my possessions to buy one - though most of my possessions do what that little thing does.;)
Christmas is only a few weeks a way, however...I can only hope *drool*.

Hehe, methinks of geeks made up a 'community', it'd either be unlivable or so cool that the 'normals' would invade and such...
