  1. Re:Fictional??? on Ready or Not, Here Comes Service Pack 2 · · Score: 1

It's not the same USR. I am well aware of that one.

  2. MS == USR? on Ready or Not, Here Comes Service Pack 2 · · Score: 2, Insightful

Why does this whole idea of remotely turning off a feature remind me of the fictional USR company in I, Robot switching off the 3 laws software?

Know the quality of XP SP2, if my computer were a robot this would be like switching some ethical software feature.

  3. Struggle? on KDE Moves to BitKeeper · · Score: 1

So, no one on the KDE team could run cvs2svn?

These stories are getting worse as the day goes on.

  4. Core feature or table type feature? on 'Most Important Ever' MySQL Reaches Beta · · Score: 2, Interesting

Some of the people making comments haven't really hit on one of interesting things in MySQL, the ability to use different table types.

For instance you can't do transactions with MyISAM, but you can with InnoDB. You pick what you need.

I think the question that needs to be asked is where in the mysql engine will these features be added? Into the core? Into the MyISAM tables? In a new table type (i.e. MyISAM2)?

  5. Re:Please don't guilt trip me, it won't help you.. on Supreme Court Takes Hard Look at P2P · · Score: 1

In general, don't signed artists take a lump sum up front for agreeing to produce one or more albums for the label?

Then as the album sells they get a tiny tiny tiny stiped?

If they can't pay their rent then they aren't managing their finances like the rest of us do to make ends meet.

Somehow I'm reminded of that South Park episode where Lars can't buy his son a diamond encrusted shark tank and P Diddy can't buy his son an island because of downloading free music. THINK OF THE CHILDREN PEOPLE!

  6. Hundreds of studies? on Views on Violence in Video Games · · Score: 2, Insightful

Being an avid gamer and all, I've never ever seen a study published with conclusive evidence linking violence in games to real life. Since supposedly there are hundreds of them I'd imagine stumbling across one would be easy but it is amazing difficult.

With millions of people like myself who play violent video games, why aren't we all mass murderers?
