Can it be worse then it is? I hope not.. but it is possible. I do agree, however, that these execs know more about computers, but this does not mean that they know what is best for patents.

After the Enron/Worldcom/etc issues, I have a hard time trusting execs from companies to make decisions that could possibly effect smaller businesses. Look at Walmarts business practices. Imagine if they had the ability (other then current political) to change the way the law looks at labor. I have a feeling they would not make any changes to benifit the masses.

This maybe true, but are you saying that you accept the fact that these companies are not held responsible for creating software that can take over your PC? These programs are a virus.

  4. Spyware/Adaware is out of control on Yahoo Anti-Spy Favors Yahoo's Adware Partners? · · Score: 4, Insightful

These applications are out of control. To trick a user into installing (and sometimes, installing without asking) software that slows down the machine and floods them with pop up windows is worse then spam. At least with spam, you can delete it quickly.

In addition to this, I cannot count the number of times family members or neighbors have called me up asking for me to help them remove TONS of this junk from their machines. Its even worse when you have to update software just to remove the junk that has been installed. Some of these applications even force you to install other software to remove the offending software. This is ridiculous.

People trust Yahoo. For Yahoo to put a program out there on the market, and do this kind of thing on purpose? That is a pretty crappy thing for a company to do. I have lost what little respect I had for Yahoo..

Ahh right! We should just sit around and dwell on the crap that is going on.. thats the ticket..

Personally, I would rather not pay attention to all of the negative news that is going on, and instead read about new toys, or advances in technology.

I, for one, am kinda sick of the "up to the minute" news that is going on all the time. I dont really care /shrug

Salamander, you couldn't have said it better.. Being a low end machine, its miles ahead of the low end machines of the past.

Look at Packard Bell. I have one laying around, and while it *still* works, its a pain in the ass. Upgrading is a waste of time.

These computers are cheap. Sure, you can build a better one for less money, but the people that will want this box, probably can't.

Do you really think that someone who does drugs isnt going to find another way to get them in the country? You think that they all come across the border? If someone chooses to do drugs, it has nothing to do with you and has no affect on you. That is their life that they are destroying. I think that the legalization and taxation of drugs whould change the amount drugs used. Most people who try hard drugs, use them, then realize how fucked up they are for you and quit. And, do you really want to pay higher taxes to so that we could take DNA samples and so the military can watch an Island full of drug users?
