For big outfits that specifically rely on spammers for advertisements I guess that's fine, however there can be innocent victims in some cases (ex. an affilicate of Amazon spamming to get referral bonuses); while Amazon (or whoever) need to dicipline their affiliates as necessary, we all know that it's hard to control someone else that's intent on spamming a million addresses.

    Good point.

But more often than not, the law is either too restrictive, or too lax to make any difference. So while I agree with you that those that try to abuse the system should be punished, I feel the efforts here would be better spent on a technical solution that would make the payoff of such abuse not worth the effort.

Of course for it to really work in the end, people would need to also stop reading the SPAMs that do get through.

And what I'm saying is that if it was made illegal, there wouldn't be this problem to begin with.

Government is supposed to be for the people by the people. Allowing corporations to carry their massive weight around (both money and PR) just doesn't allow for ordinary citizens to counteract this.

I always thought Apple would keep crippling their entry products to unusable levels compared to their higher end stuff.

With this move, they've removed one of the biggest complaints of thier entry laptop, while still making it fairly affordable, and really not too crippled considering the specs and price.

They might finally be waking up to the idea of making a good entry level alternative that's equally attrative as their higher end stuff....

Yeah, because companies are allowed to lobby the government, which creates a total imbalance (anyone can see that!), afterall, I (or even you) don't have the kinda cash to couteract it.

So, thanks for proving my point!

I mean, really, TV has become such crap that I barely watch 3hrs of it per week, usually mostly news.

They didn't need to stuff this down my throat to get me to stop watching it, but it certainly won't make me take a second lood at it either now.

So I say let them piss off their own customers; in the end they'll just become irrelevant that much faster.
