I never needed to either, but why the hell shouldn't I smoke a bowl every once in a while, or have a few shrooms? I don't need to, but do I NEED to drink coke, eat fast food, or many other things along these lines. As for me, I think a couple hits off the pipe is much more healthy than the cup of coffee most of you had this morning...

  4. Re:Porn on the Playstation on Slashback: Nods, Lamentations, Nudity · · Score: 1

Sony would never liscense porn on their console. Besides, the dev kit costs $18,000 last I heard, and thats just to be able to program on the PS2. The liscensing fees are probably much too steep (If sony, by some odd chance, decides to actually liscense it to the porno companies.) for any porn company to be interested in. PC adult games are much more profitable anyway(per unit sold), as there are no liscensing fees or outrageously expensive dev kits.

Well, I'm not that old, but IBM probably does have a case against them, if they desired to do such a thing. Maybe thats the shortage, they needed to make new logos that didnt say PS2. See, it's all a big conspiracy!!

  7. On the PS2 shortages.... on Slashback: Nods, Lamentations, Nudity · · Score: 1

PS2.ign.com had an article about the shortage. Apparently Sony is denying that the problem is DVD related:

The official reason, according to SCEA executives, is due to a shortage of various components that are crucial to the completion of each unit. Sony would not list the exact components, but Vice President of Marketing Andrew House stated that it had nothing to do with the DVD aspect of the machine.

Sony did modify the DVD hardware after the problems they had in Japan with the software DVD drivers, which are now fully implemented in hardware. They could be lying to save face, or some other component is having shortages. Rambus anyone?

  8. Can't we all just get along? on Red Hat Linux 7 Infested With Bugs · · Score: 1

I hate all this infighting among distros. Everyone who knows linux know that most distros have at least one or two redeeming qualities, even though RedHat might be one of the least. I personally use mandrake mostly, or the VALinux modded redhat, as I want the bleeding edge of everything, even if it means a crash every couple of weeks. I actually use BeOS mostly though, and I am forced into Windows until I can ditch my shitty Efficient USB DSL modem.

But for god's sake, stop with the distro war posts.

Five months isn't actually a 'long' appeals process, at least when you compare it to some of the OJ Simpsomesque trials we've had lately. I really dont think it matters either way though, as it appears that MS has somewhat slacked off in the OS market, and are instead targeting on their '.NET Strategy', which I think is one of the stupidest ideas ever. I'd much rather have my nice dual P3, BeOS and GoBe than an MS Office that's even slower and buggier than it is now.
