wow, amazing someone is still developing for an old system. DYK that their are people still developing for the apple//gs too? it has AIM and a web browser and all kinds of other cool stuff. But here's what I don't understand. The best amiga you can possibly by doesn't have anywhere near the power to run a game like shogo MAD or SOF. Exactly which amiga computer are we talking about here. Is amiga still in business and making machines? If they are let me at one!
oh I pity thee. You think that a console game system is just as good as a PC. *sigh* If you run servers, they should be on a completely seperate machine that your personal computer. I have two "modern" PC's myself. One is the one I'm using now. I use it to do whatever I want, and with only a PIII 450 and a TNT 2 (soon to be upgraded though) I can play games better than practically any console system, even PS2 (don't as how). My other computer doesn't even have a monitor, keyboard or mouse of its own. It just sits there serving a counterstrike game and FTP. To do something to it I connect to it via telnet or xwin-32 or whatever. PC gaming is where its at. Look at the console systems you speak of! They are becoming more and more like PC's every day. The PS2 has USB ports! You shouldn't turn your PC into a game machine since it was so expensive etc. etc. You should buy another compture and turn that into one. How many people are playing counterstrike with they playstations?
Wow this is great! Now I can play all the GNOME and KDE games that came with red hat! Wait why the heck would i make a bootable CD when I have Linux installed? And of course Linux doesn't have any cool games. I think this guy is thinking a bit backwards here. There aren't any people who have Windows and want to run Linux games. It's the other way around. However, would this same system work for getting other applications besides games to work?
Everybody dreams about falling blocks. That's because everybody has one time in their lives where they play tetris a lot. I think that russian guy who programmed it put it some really ingeneous subliminal thing so that you dream blocks falling after playing tetris. If we can figure out the code to create those subliminal messages we can have people dream just about anything. And if people dream about your game then you sell more copies. Anyone had any Diablo II dreams?
I would have to say that you should not trust anything that Dell says. Furthermore you should never ever under any circumstance buy any computer that is allready assembled and has software pre-installed if you are fully capable of building it yourself. Here is a perfect example of me and my roomate's computers. He has a brand new dell dimension 4100, it is 800mhz P3. I have my P3 450 I built last year. My computer never crashes unless I run unreliable software, like Netscape 6 or a test of some game. His computer fails often. I installed Red Hat 7 on my computer with no problem. I installed it on his computer, and it worked, but the Dell BIOS always starts windows despite LILO. So to get to linux he must use a boot disk. ALso his Linux failed the other day and had to be re-installed. And to top it off I ran 3Dmark 2000 on both machines. I even closed all the programs dell threw on there that eat up system resources. I got a score of 1100+ he got a score of 800 something. If you want a web server just buy a big case, dual processor motherboard, two chips, some RAM, a RAID controller, a bunch of 10000 rpm SCSI drives, download red hat 7 for free, and of course a video card and a sound card, which really don't matter in a server that much. Even though the money saved by building computers is not as significant as it used to be, when compared to Dell you always win because they charge 1000 dollars for putting there name on the case.
Heck if this thing can play the star wars chess game let it play some ice hockey or football video games. Even better have ESPN broadcast live games you can watch on one of these. That's where we're going in the future.
Well let's see I actually have almost everything I want. However there area few things I could use. Also this is for Hannukah, not Christmas. First I want a red ferrari 360 spyder straight from Italy. Second I want a Geforce 2, I don't got one yet. Also Maybe a real motherboard chipset, I mean come on people. The BX is still number one, but it doesn't have any of the new features for the new chips. Also I would like a way to give everyone else on the internet an OC3 connection. When you have one you realize how slow all the other people are with their cable modems and things. I also want a mouse that is exactly like the logitech wingman gaming mouse only it has a scroll wheel thingy and is optical not ball. Last but not least I want a motherboard, it has to have the new chipset I wished for and the following, 1 AGP, 6 PCI, 8 USB, 2 Ultra DMA 100 controllers supporting 4 devices each, kick ass bios that lets me overclock to any number I feel like typing in, and all the basics, but no legacy stuff like ISA and PS2. as for stuff that is available and not just a wish, I'll just take the ferrari and the geForce.
