Seems like I recall some law or something that is supposed to keep people in the dark about comparative wages in an industry. Its some form of collusion if people actually 'talk' about what wages they make at x company compared to y company.

I always thought that was BS, so I'm thrilled to see it on /.

But does anyone know what I'm talking about? Its a vauge memory from something I read somewhere...

This sounds like rather cruel and I might add, crude, experimentation.

Most of the comments on this thread have reflected little if any care about the animals involved in this "research". Do the cats voluntarily keep their eyes open? Or are they forced? When they finish with the images, do they just trash 'em, or what?

Please, take the time to reflect on the difference between Silicon and Organic constructs, and the gishy, gooey, very real and sloppy feelings that the latter endures for our curiosity.

    Hence, Curiosity Killed The Cat.

Ok, most of us are comp nerds with little knowledge of what the CIA actually does.

Well, I do. I have been a political activist almost as long as I have been a computer nerd. I've chatted with ex-CIA guys over beers, including a few that have left the 'Company' to renegade against them.

All I really have to say is, isn't this a wonderful chance for them to insert backdoors into every product hard and soft? Full access to all company data, schematics, code, and so on. It is a BAD idea to do business with the CIA (jezuz, they specialize in destabilizing other countries' goverments). I'm sure some slimey individuals and companies will do business with them, but I hope the marketplace shows that they have no place in the private sector, and they shrivel up and die.

I will boycott any product produced in conjunction with them, but I fear, what if they strike a deal with chip manufacturers or OS producers?

Does anyone know any way we can stop this? Is it legal for the govt. to start a private enterprise like this? They are unrestricted in the private sector...

Federal Law requires employers to allow a 15 min break for every four hours of work. Therefore, smoking or writing personal email (only company policy could prevent this)is perfectly legal. 19. Voting on Voting over the net? · · Score: 2

Don't hold you breath for this in the US anytime soon. If you make it too easy to vote, people will! It still behooves too many candidates (and the Two Parties) to have low voter turn out. They know what the voting demographics are of an area and can target accordingly. This would screw up demographics entirely, especially if people could walk into any library with net access and vote. We should push harder for this here. I'm sure it would be feasible to have at least a test run (even if the results don't count) in 2000.
