I find it amazing this got modded up..
Anyway, Napster is a tool -- but not one for theft. It can be used for theft, but so can the Internet. So can Usenet. So can my car, ad infinitum. Napster does have a "no bots" policy -- because they're doing this in the name of Good, they should be able to walk over that? What if I made a rule for my DNS server that I didn't want anybody packet sniffing? It wouldn't stop anybody -- but then they'd also be violating my policy. If Napster has a "no bots" policy, it won't stop many people from using bots - but they're violating the policy. I come to my previous statement; Are they allowed to do this just because they're in the name of ethics? Morals? Commander Joe? I don't quite think so, myself.
Nobody ever claimed to have a right to steal music, last I checked.
I wonder - Did you use the "preview" button before you submitted?
I personally know a fellow (Brian Crouch, who also hosts my webpage) that managed to clone OLGA before it was shut down -- a few days, if I remember correctly, before, in fact.

Also, i think nutz.org has some olga stuff.
For the sake of accuracy -- OLGA was shut down in 1997, so it's been shut down, it isn't on the "verge".
My guess would be it's because the school exercices their right to censor anything on their internet connection they'd like.
Do I agree with it? No, not in the least bit. Are they still doing something legal? Yes -- it's their internet connection, you're using their servers, their computers. I think it's extraordinarily stupid, but they have the right.
Bad parents raise bad kids. Marilyn Manson said it, and it rings true, as far as I'm concerned. Ugh. How would Bush fare up against Gore if he went out and said "You're bad parents -- make sure you and your kids talk well and you do something to make sure they aren't committing violent acts. Jesus, you're all idiots". Probly wouldn't shine too bright.
Maybe we should elect Bush over Gore, though -- Gore did create the evil Internet.
I recently built a new computer (from scratch - motherboard/tower to sound card to video card to etc. and so on) and then I installed DOS 6.22 (MS) onto it. I upgraded to Win98 with the upgrade edition (had to put in the win95 cd, also ironically an upgrade) and then upgrade to Win98SE with a "bonus disc" ($20 from MS, though I think I stole my copy from a friend.) Also - what about the possibility of somebody buying a copy of Windows (or Mandrake, or Debian, or Slackware..) along/with/ the "naked PC"? (To the Linux fanboys - I installed Mandrake dual-booted with Win98 before I had to reformat said computer, Mandrake apparently got rid of my hda1 partition. Guess I'll get a new HD before I try that again.)
Oh well. We'll put an infinite amount of monkeys in front of an infinite amount of terminals and see if one of them can code up a half-decent operating system.

That was W. Bush's father, not him. Check the node on www.everything2.com for "George Bush".
