I do not work for Microsoft, but I can see their side:
* Cannot install games to the HDD
You could potentially have code on a modified xbox 360 that allows said installed game to be played without the disc, hurting game publishers. Microsoft is one such publisher.
* Cannot use Windows Media Centre extender
Requires a network connection. If Microsoft bans xboxes from live by telling it to turn off it's networking capabilities (shrug)
* Cannot access netflix rentals
Requires xbox live gold
* Cannot download game updates and extra content that are used in offline play
Requires xbox live connection (silver or gold)
and, the one you forgot:
* Cannot transfer saved games to another 360
Technically speaking, on a modded console you could cheat. For example you could give yourself extra ammo, more lives, or a ton of gold. Allowing you to then transfer this off, and use it on the service could give you an unfair advantage.
I don't see where Microsoft did anything wrong. You broke the agreement, you get restricted access.
My phone is on one of AT&T's plans. It's the best service I'v *ever* had.
What's different than 90% of the "my phone does xxx" is that mine jumps on other networks. If I happen to get a better signal off a verizion tower, my call goes onto their network. U.S. Cellular tower across the street? Yup, the call goes over their network. It's a sweet deal, since AT&T's coverage is marginal, but combine 4, 5, 6 carriers and it gets _MUCH_ better.
Mediacom just did the same trick in my area. Rates went up $10/month, but the modem lease went from $10 to $5.
The twist in Mediacom's case: they screwed up the marketing. Inteasd of print up flyers that said "Your rate's going up, but you now save $5 off the old price of leasing a modem." They simply said "$5 off".
Guess who owns a modem? Me. Guess who's getting his $5 off a month? I might have to frame the flyer, send them a photo every month, but hey, $5 is another pizza.
This sounds cool. Are there pictures of the racks? I'd love to see them. I found http://www.google.com/plex/index.html which has some "see, wer'e fun people" type pics, and what could concievably be a portion of a rack in the lower left pic, but nothing impressive.
Being published is exactly why universities are going downhill. I have 3 professors right now. Two of them are published and one of those two is so busy with her "research" that she's distracted during class and wouln't give a damn if you died in your seat, much less learn something.
I'm a Sprint fan. Works in my area, and I pay $30 a month for 500 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited picturemail, unlimited internet.
I have no billing or service complaints. None, zero, zip. Lucky? (shrug) Maybe.
If you go Sprint, let me know and I'll tell you how I got my plan, hopefully there's an offer that works for you.

The ISP I use has had a tidbit on their page about their hand in the Online voting project for about a month now. Here's the link
