    To my understanding, C++ programs using shared libraries do not work (correctly) in OpenBSD, and this is why Mozilla also does not work. [I'm not sure if this is totally accurate as I'm not a developer of these softwares.] Therefore, it is OpenBSD that needs to be fixed and not Mozilla. Wait for the next release of OpenBSD...

    I don't know exactly... Open and Net are similar systems so maybe it will help. But are Open users even interested in this. They seem to be so security focused they don't even mind Mozilla not working... On the other hand what is the use on DRI on Net, somebody playing quake on Net? Maybe in the future we have 3D models living in every web page and DRI becomes essential...

    Generally running NetBSD requieres a prosessor
    which has MMU. This is needed for its
    multiprocessing and security cababilities.
    I don't think your toaster has a enough
    advanced CPU to run NetBSD. But you can try
    put the boot floppies in your toaster and
    see what happens. It could well be one
    of the supported platforms.

    Sure, but when it comes to sport cars a little
    is a lot. Compare Free/Open on SMP system,
    the fast lane is where speed matters. Sure,
    there are "good number" of platforms but
    nowhere like in Net. Even OpenBSD realizes it
    is a tank. Only they picture it as a blowfish,
    a fish that is full of security spikes,
    can inflate itself with air, and is very
    poisonous too. Of course the tank analogy
    is somewhat flaved... where is the cannon
    and missile systems! But its really a tank
    a tank a tank, I think only, maybe the OpenBSD
    guys are not very much war fighting people, but
    a more fond of animals (like the object
    oriented guys)...

    you have to use NetBSD current...

    I'm a bit lost too about what to say (say nothing :). I guess people want their OS to have all possible bells and whistles. All other (than mac) NetBSD's ppc ports seem to run on quite exotic hardware and if you have a mac you want macos-x too, right?

    Smp don't have a lot of meaning because almost nobody has many processors. But people are always interested in more features. I guess if everyone buys a hyper threaded pentium 4, then smp support is essential.

    If goverment's source code is gpl not gpl-users cannot use it without jumping to gpl too. So I think

    Don't have DC myself... But if you are some kind of enthusiast then I suppose you could have fun with it. That is, do you think it would be cool to have DC as a workstation. Some people design harddrive interface for DC and other people make netbsd drivers. Another and more polpular (?) option would be a BBA (broad band adapter) and use NFS. Be prepared to also buy some extras for the DC. I think it would be cool to also see netbsd in TV! DOn't know how well it makes a production machine but a nice hacking machine it would be.

    This is a very important addition to the NetBSD kernel as the future is going to be massively paraller. But this step is not a major leap. The next thing will be addition of userland threads so that a single process may run on each processor simultaneously. And then we can rewrite all our applications to take advantage of this new feature. But why don't we all start using Linux as it is clearly superior. Technically that is. What the hell. I don't know. I think some of us like don't like GNU style of things. But thats maybe not enough. Perhaps both systems are good enough? Or maybe I want to be a kind of ultra weird nerd for who Linux is too much of a common thing. What else. I hope my NetBSD box mutates into a flying saucer. As I think I need to take a trip to an other planet quite soon. KICK ASS
