oh, shut the fuck up already. You're an idiot. Ever heard of a search warrant? The police needs that to go in your house and look through your stuff. I HAVE RIGHTS, and one of those is my right to privacy. So shut the fuck up already and go back to your ass licking, uncle fucker.
Patents will be the end of our scientific and technological advancement.
Since the beggining of time, when most people discovered something, they didn't keep it a secret. Imagine if the first guy who discovered fire had patented it, and only those that bought a license were allowed to use it. Imagine if Boole had patented his boolean arithmetic. If other people would not be allowed to use it, would we have such a widespread use of computers today? I can go on an on with stupid examples. The idea is the same. Patenting something is a ridiculous idea. Patenting is theft from the public domain. Patenting is an insult to our intelligence. It's saying "I'm smarter than you, I thought of this first now you're not allowed to think of it too". Patents will slow down our scientific and technological advancement. Down with patents!
nope, so far no problems
I reached a point in my life where I got tired of having 128 megs of ram and a slow PC because the resources are at 50%.
So it was either put linux and fuck Windows, or upgrade to win2k
Unfortunately for now it's still a windows world, everything in stores is windows... so I decided win2k.
so far it's much better than win98, but I do have one funny problem. I have an ACPI enabled bios and a keyboard with power buttons (sleep, wake, power). pressing any of these keys will reset the computer right away. Kinda scary
This link has been posted HUDREDS of times in the HUDREDS of slashdot articles talking about the IT workers shortage. You really DO recycle your stories. Slow news day, EH?
18 months? that's a loooong time
how about their gigahertz PIIIs? They're just starting to get them now in volume. The 1.13 version won't be there till Q2 of 2001. 2001. Amd offers them now
Why are scientists still thinking inside the box? Think outside of the periodic table...it could have been something undescribable by solid, liquid or gas...who knows...
Nothing whatsoever is "meant to happen", at least from a scientific perspective. Natural selection, like gravity, describes what happens not what ought to happen. If people decide that saving species X from extinction is worth it to them, then that's just fine.
No it's not! it's just humans meddling again! If species X is extinct, there is a reason for it. Bringing back that species might in the end harm the environment. I don't like using this example, but would you support bringing back the dinosaurs because the dumb population finds it a good idea? Do you know what that would do to our planet and or society?
pfft
45 days is a looong time.
Just think of all the things hax0rs can do to your server in 45 days.
At least if you knew about the exploit you could prepare yourself, even in a closed source environment where it takes a while to get a patch.

Lunix? LOL. Reminds me of a Lowtax/JeffK/whatever flash animation about two guys using "Lunix" on their machine...
