I was in a similar boat. albeit a leaky one.

Worked full-time, attended school full-time, and tried to study whenever I wasn't sleeping.
Of course, for me, things worked out as, 1 semester away from finishing my core classes (3 semesters down, 4 to go). Wife found another man, took the house, the nice car, and my cats.
He can have the bitch. I miss my cats though.

Of course over the last 3 years, I've watched my choosen career (IT) go through massive changes, both for good and bad, and watched my attitude towards the whole thing slowly spiral in the gutter of self-pity and despair.

I'm going back to school next fall to finish, then I don't know what I will do with my life. I'm not entirely sure at this point if I want to finish school, because it's what I should do, or because it's what I want to do.

Anyway, to the topic at hand. Time management, and staying aware of the fact that other people need you, just as much as you feel you need to do this. Without those two things, you're screwed. I know that for me, it was those two things that led me down the garden path to self-ruination.

    Good luck!

    At least in my experience.
The corporate mind has shifted away from IT.

Not my problem though, I'm gettng out while still have my sanity, and going back to law enforcement.
For me, the pay is better, the hours are better, and I actually get to do my damn job instead of sucking up to whichever Sales/HR/PR/ geek happens to be the flavor of the week.

True, I run the risk of getting shot, but if things don't change where I am now, that may happen anyway. ;)

Well, my first house is still standing, granted, it's only 4 years old, but it's on par with, and probably better than, the professionaly built homes in the neighborhood.
Plus, it's the only one in that development, that I know of, that was wired for CAT 5 ;-)

1800sq ft, total cost was $65,000.00US
Appraisal value when we rolled the building loan into a mortagage was $117,000.00US and that's with an unfinished basement.

Of course I lost the house in the divorce 2 years ago, but that's neither here nor there.

If you've got the time to oversee the project, and get your hands a little dirty, building your own house is the best way to get a new home, espcially for the first time home buyer, like I was.

It's a shame this book wasn't available when I built my house. Matter of fact, I saw very little that was related to this area at the book store.
Hell, the way the blurp for the book talks, I could have built the whole place for $1.25 or so ;-)
