Everyone knows that the rising sea levels puts those cities that are below sea level at a danger because if the sea levels rise several inches, those cities built several feet below sea level will now potentially be underwater!;)
It's nice to know someone else out there thinks things are still unclear, but agrees we still want cleaner water & air, more efficient technology and travel, and lower environmental impact.
Please Mr. Rhetoric, explain to me the cause for the global warming currently transpiring on Mars.
"...And for three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars' south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress."
Because people have been griping about all the trolling for the opposing viewpoint when the same or similar article is posted three times in a week. Yeah....sorry,...counter viewpoint. OMG...TROLL!!!
Yes, yes,...anyone who does not worship your sacred god of global warming and accept mankind's sins as the cause is a wicked wicked troll.
Mind you, I am still waiting for those alarmists to explain what is causing the global warming on Mars as well?
"...And for three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars' south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress."
Think that gives you doubts...try this:...And for three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars' south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress.
Yeah...sure...okay, first off...let's get the !@#$% debate defined.
Question 1) Is Global Warming occurring?
Question 2) If so, is it abnormal?
Question 3) If so, is it influenced by man?
Question 1 is still under debate. Though a majority is inclined toward the belief that it is indeed occurring.
Question 2 is far from agreed upon with many believing we are going thru global warming but believes it is not an atypical fluctuation.
Question 3 is even farther removed from being an absolute. Recent measurements recording increase of polar temperatures and melting of polar ice caps on Mars is potentially a shattering revelation to the theory that said warming is due to man's actions.
That said, regardless of global warming, there is no excuse for the amount of pollution, inefficiencies, toxic waste, and mis-use of resources on the part of mankind. However, bad science is not necessarily a good case for said change.
Man, I've been arguing that point for years. Cementification of the planet's surface is "proven" to affect global warming. (ie: a recent study even pointed out the wind farms, you know...safe, clean, energy, cause a dramatic increase in surface temperature and they noted the surrounding area suffered more dessertification)
You have to realize that Patent law was changed to allow business models to be patentable. So in this case, according to the Law, Netflix is right. The issue at hand is a dire need to change the patent system.
Exactly, the same with half the movies that came out. So who gives a shit if they are released to DVD 3-6 months later.
Sure, I understand not wanting them released to DVD the same time as they're released to theatres. But 3-6 months. They're not losing anything. As for the big blockbuster films. Those usually don't get released to DVD for nearly a year.
Oh, I disagree with releasing the DVD & the movie at the same time. But most DVDs are released at least 3-6 months after theatrical releases and the vast majority a year later.
And there is no option to see it in theatres at that point for most people.
I think the real issue is that they think if there are more new releases people will be more likely to rent a newly released to DVD movie they didn't see last year from Netflix than pay $10/person and $8 for a large popcorn + $7 for two medium sodas for a total cost of nearly $45 for a couple to go see a 2 hour movie. Oh, and yes...those are the prices around where I am.
There is absolutely no reason for theatres to be unhappy about earlier releases of DVDs. Why?
Because, most films are in and out of the theatre in a mere 2 weeks unless they're big hits (Harry Potter, LotR, etc.) or Hollywood agenda films (Brokenback Mountain) which Hollywood will keep in theatres for months and months even without ticket sales.
But how long was Serenity in theatres? how long was Night Watch? or Joe Avg film. Not long. I try to see my out-of-state fiance at least once a month. often there are movies I want to see with her but never get to because they're out of the theatre in 3 weeks flat.
Regardless, Ubuntu could be the world's perfect OS with no flaws and the most intuitive UI possible. But I would still not call it one of the "BIG THREE!"
Er...I mean, if a new car company came out with a vehicle that had the luxury of rolls royce in the performance of a Ferari and the capacity of a minivan and the power, towing and off-road ability of a truck...and managed to put it in a package that got 250mpg and for only a $12,000 ticket price. Calling it one of the big three would still make no sense. It's not.
Hey, in 5 yrs it might be the "BIG ONE"...but hey, people hear the BIG THREE AUTOMAKERS they still think of Ford, Chrystler & GM. Regardless of all the German and Japanese imports. That may change...true.
But the BIG THREE of anything has to be a household name. And Ubuntu is definitely NOT! Nor is a Linux Distribution an "OS", it's a distribution.
The BIG THREE "Operating Systems" as is understood by most people are Windows, Macintosh, & 'nux.
This is "recent" research. Sheesh. I remember hearing about cosmic radiation's effect of aging when I was like 4 yrs old. (I just turned 30.)
Anyways, can someone please review the articles for some relanvancy to life. I mean, sheesh, this is a known issue. It's why one of the discussions regarding all deep space missions revolves around how best to shield the crew from cosmic radiation.
*yawn*
Oh yes, btw,...let me show you this great new revolutionary idea I've come up with.... I call it the "Space Shuttle"
There are many non-judeo/christian ID'ists who believe that's exactly what happened. And after viewing a duckbill platypus you kinda come away thinking that maybe they're right.
To me, the duckbill platypus is proof either that
a) God was learning as he went
b) God has a sense of humor
When the evolutionist shows me evidence of transitory forms for a duckbill platypus and explains it's varied characteristics and derivation. Then I might be more accepting.
Democrats always promise everything but provide no plan for how to do it and when they gain power never do it. Happens all the time.
The feasibility of offering everyone in the U.S. broadband internet access is impossible in 5 yrs time. Excuse me, we have places a 100 miles out in the boondocks. Are you suggesting we launch satellites to offer internet to those few remote individuals. So we'll spend $20 billion on bringing broadband to the outskirts so a handful of people can have broadband. Um....yeah.
Please Nancy...think outside of your arse for once. Democrats...does everything for you have to be about winning elections? Why not quit promising, quit criticizing...and start !@#$% doing something.
Okay, so we're talking about a game that essentially demonstrates a concept of ID (Intelligent Design) and Slashdot is out hyping it and pushing it with no ridicule. Man, sometimes I really do think the editors at Slashdot have their heads up their own asses.
In fact, there is ton of prior evidence. Shoot, I myself have said "I'm selling my xyz thing, to whoever offers me the most for it. But if you give x $$$ I'll give it to you now."
I don't see the validity of patents like these. The workflow already existed. Just cause it's incorporated in a different medium does not seem to have validity before my eyes.
It's crap, everyone knows it....and in some ways, I am just waiting for enough of these crappy patents to happen that we say !@#$% the whole patent system and re-write the whole damn thing.
"what made people think that evolution stopped with the modern era?"
The NAZI's followed by politically correctness. Which places us in a conundrum where we insist on evolution but deny that anyone or group of people could evolve beyond others in some facet. Then we shout about holders of ID "denying the facts of science" as we do it ourselves. There you have it...
Actually, you are correct, my first 7,200rpm drive was NOT in 1996, but rather January 1998 along with my Pentium II 350mhz. But still, almost a decade ago. But still, 15,000rpms is only 3x increase over 5,400rpms in a decade.
As for RAM, back in 1993 we had a 386DX/33 and 30-pin SIMMS. And these were still common for another year or so in the 486's. They were much much slower than you're year 2000 cutting edge 133MHz. They were much much slower than even the 1998 100mhz. I forget if they were 33mhz or only 15mhz. I think they may have been around the latter.
Now, let's look at some of today's top memory. DDR2/800 - the memory runs at 200mhz, however with an I/O bus clock rate of 400mhz. Per Wikipedia: DDR2-xxx (or DDR-xxx) denotes effective clockspeed. So we're talking the equivalent of 800mhz (plus the bandwidth has been greatly increased as well). The bandwidth of such being 6.400 GB/s
So we're looking at what? 33mhz to an equivalent 800mhz... and I'd be curious to know the bandwidth of a 30-pin or 72-pinn SIMM compared to the 6400mb/s of DDR2800.
That sure seems like significant performance increase.
And no, I was not mixing my RAM & Flash....sorry, you missed the point. I was pointing to the fact that processors & RAM have seen very sustantial performance increases. And compact Flash has seen similar improvements in the past 5 yrs of high use. Where as our hard drives are consistently showing very minimal "performance" increase. Though they have shown substantial capacity increase. Which is really the intended goal of drive makers. "More storage" is of greater importance than "faster storage".
My point being Compact Flash has shown a substantial performance increase over the years. It is likely to continue to do so. And although hard drive vs flash memory performance is currently somewhat comparable, the odds are over the next decade that compact flash and other similar memory will far exceed the performance of hard drives. Therefore, said addition by Microsoft is not really as foolish as some are arguing. In fact, it may be a very rare change of foot for Microsoft and might be very forward looking innovation.
That said, nothing will require you to utilize said feature. And I welcome it with curious interest.
So...Mars is not earth...
Please, is there an argument you are trying to make?
Cause somehow you managed to utterly unconvince me of any soundness of rebuttal. Might I add that North America ain't Asia either!
Yeah...the Dutch are next...
;)
Everyone knows that the rising sea levels puts those cities that are below sea level at a danger because if the sea levels rise several inches, those cities built several feet below sea level will now potentially be underwater!

Really, funny...
Although I recall it did get nominated for best picture. I don't recall it being a very big grossing film over all.
In fact, it was 23rd following such movies as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Hitch, The Longest Yard, Fun with Dick & Jane.
Even Chicken Little out grossed the film. Along with The Pacifier, Flightplan, & Saw II. and numerous others. It barely passed the Dukes of Hazzard.
Even though it received more media attention than all of the above combined.
There is absolutely no reason for theatres to be unhappy about earlier releases of DVDs. Why?

If it read Linux, Macintosh, & Windows - I'd buy it.
Heck, if it said Ford, GM, & Chrystler - I could see the BIG THREE...but what the heck is Ubuntu?
