I don't think Kats knows, but it is. I saw a documentary on the history channel a few months ago about this. They even interviewed the guy. But in real life that lame political officer didnt get killed where he did, and the sniper that lost got killed under that pile of junk in the train station.
Yea, wtf do you think they would do when somone found a bug. Try to reprogram them? What if they arent reporgrammable. Assuming they aren't would mean open source would be pretty stupid. People could find all the bugs, but there would be no way to fix them. The only differences there would be if this was open source would be that the hacker wouldn't have to look for the backdoors himself, and 1337 d00dz would be h4x0ring them months ago.
Actually, it would be more like "new high tech locks twart theives!". What everyone's problem is, is that you need a new-fangled key to open the lock. If you loose your key, you can't get a new one because it is assumed that you are a thief. And even if you could get a new one, in 10 years your new lock will be obsolete and new-fangled keys wont even be made anymore. We don't really want to be forced into buying a new house. And I bet the DMCA makes it illegal to go through a window to get in.
Ever wonder how warez and ISOs for things are usually released -before- the product is released? Its because somone in the 'members only' group of people that get pre-release copies of the software are in on it. What purpose will this 'members only' group serve? It sure won't keep people from making BIND exploits.
What if they want to play and build them by cheating? I suppose you are OK with that, right?
It is Sony's game, they can make whatever rules they want. If you don't like the rules, you can go find a mud with rules you might like.
It's not that I'm hiding, it's a thing (which now has become very very close to obsolete) called PRICAVY.
I are you sure pricavy isn't a new thing? I can't find it here, herethis lame thing!!
What is claimed is:
1. A communications system comprised of at least one input device with numbered and lettered buttons, a centeral processing unit that is the entended recipient of signals from the input device.
Summary of the invention:
The present invention relates to non-fault-tolerant computerized systems wich have keyed input devices. The invention is a backup method of inputing data to a computerized system in the event of specific device failures where specific characters or character combinations are made unavailable for input by replacing specific characters or character combinations generated by the input device with other characters or character combinations.
Example:
In the event the 'c, 'e', 'l', 'a', 't', and 'o' keys on a keyboard type input device fail, the invention would transform the sequence: "I am an elite hacker" into the sequence: "I 4m 4 1337 h4x0r"

The answer is no.
Actually, YOU could buy compnents and put whatever OS you wanted on them. My mom and most of America can't.
http://www.kriptopolis.com/cua/eml.html You would think you people could surf in foreign languages.. but I guess not.
No, it can be a good thing. If it means my mom can install the only easy-enough-to-use-but-still-secure-enough-to-sell commercial distro.

The reason why is that pile of approximately 83 486s and other various parts that is sitting in a corner in my basement.
