All that crap remind me of this radio shop where I used to live. They would do this promo to see if anyone in the community could crack the 'newest' best car alarm/shutdown device on their lamborghini. On the first day of the contest, someone always did it, usually spending less than $50 on parts. All of this just points to the fact that digital copyright protection is simply a deterrent.
If you actually READ the article, they're just trying to build a body of knowledge relating to hardware. Theoretically, if one piece of hardware works with one version of *NIX, it should work with another. In reality this is simply not true, as anyone who spends time at Linux Users Groups can tell you. If there is a collective out there gathering this data, it would help the people like myself who just spent a long time building a linux-friendly box expedite their long construction time.
For anyone trying to homing rocket someone in Unreal tournament, no one wants those skipping frames--you wanna have the joy of smooth swift death. I'll gladly pay 150 for a video card than give it to a therapist to "discuss" my violent tendencies.
what is the primary goal of the American government? To further the nationalistic goals of the American Citizenry. Who are these Americans? An amazingly diverse group of cultures and races who got here under varying circumstances with the belief that hard work and education would allow either themselves or their children the ability to rise above their current status: POOR. Some governments accomplish the goals of their mostly Homogenous cultures without the need for a vote. We do not. Any of you bright slashdot readers ever been a candidate for the presidency of the most influential government on the planet? I think not. That person gets to be crucified upon the altar of Media INCLUDING SLASHDOT. What I'm trying to say is that it is a futile exercise to find ONE PERSON out of 270 million who is going to embody every value we as individuals hold dear except one: GREED. So quit your bitching about Bush/Gore and be thankful that no matter who you vote for, both will continue to line American's pockets, especially those who type away day after day, and make way for all those little american corporate startups who are ready to do battle with the market forces of the NWO.

Just because it's FREE to port to other boxes doesnt mean it's MORALLY correct. Some people have souls, some don't. I would say you fall into the soulless category for sure.

I would venture to say that we have had very few presidents, if any, after WWII who were anything more than well trained actors in the public eye. Why do you think Reagan was so popular?
