  1. Yeah this is stupid. on Massachusetts Plans a Cell Phone Bill of Rights · · Score: 2, Interesting

Sorry but the only thing this will do is raise the end cost for consumers. First off understand I work for one of the bigger big 4 cell companies, but I'm not corporate coating any of this post =P .
1.) 1 year contracts will make customers pay more for cell phones. We subsidize them based on the contract you sign. However its only about a 50$ difference, but expect that to change if they are forced into it.
2.) fixing dead spots... ok this is the most economically and logistically unfeasible things I've ever heard of. I live in a dead spot.. know why? Cause my apartment building is in the bottom of a small valley. I walk a block up the hill and I have signal. So are they supposed to put a tower beside my house because I have a dead spot even though signal picks up strong less than a block away? It is wireless folks, there are going to be places you can't make a call live with it or don't get a phone.
3.) The bills are not that difficult to understand. No more than any other utility. Just sit down and read the damn thing. There's no reason to legislate stupidity.

  2. I've been more entertained in my sleep! on Dune Scores Huge Ratings · · Score: 1

Although after watching the first episode I was pretty happy and figured the mini-series would be ok. Then, Monday night I got home, got the tape out of the VCR went to my friends house and started to watch the second half. Now I'm pretty sure that a spinal tap with blunt lemon by an amazingly lethargic sloth would have been more fun then watching this second part. I cant begin to explain the utter crap that this episode consisted of, although I really liked the soft core porn edge it had =).

  3. First parts over ... on Dune Miniseries Airs Tonight · · Score: 1

Well, after sitting through the first part of this three part mini-series I can't say I am dissapointed in any real way, of course I did not have extremely high expectations either. I did enjoy it enough to record the full 2 hours and will take it to my friends house tomorrow after the second half to watch again. Although there are a few inconsistencies from the book, I dont think any of them detract from the over all entertainment factor of the show. I think you have to face facts that the book could never be faithfully converted into a movie, it's just to damn complex and although in the written word this complexity only adds to the experience of reading it, trying to watch a word for word rendition would well kinda suck. I think they have done a better job of it so far than lynch did. And I think that just about anyone would at least garner some entertainment from it, of course this is all IMHO

  4. Good for him on The Kid Who Wouldn't Be King (UPDATED) · · Score: 1

I say good for him, he is right. The school systems today are horribly antiquated, our system of learning here in the US was thought up in order to produce docile factory workers who would speak when spoken to and be able to perform repetitive tasks without ever even thinking that they could be doing something more. We are far past the time of factory workers and our education system should reflect that. Its time to start teaching our children to be free thinking humans, not drones.

Well thats what I think anyway =)

Or hunter-gatherers, who have to work maybe four hours per day to ensure their survival.
As society matures I think that more and more people will realize that well frankly, that was a good life =). We have made work almost pointless, we work long hours, let our bosses call us at home for tech support dont get enough sleep then get all uptight when we think that our boss doesn't like us for one reason or another and hope like hell that he won't lay us off because we wouldn't be able to buy that really cool palm pilot case! I'm as guilty of this as the next guy but I'm starting to come to the realization that it doesnt matter. Hell I'm seriously considering going back to cooking in a restaraunt again simply because I had so much free time then, and absolutly no one hounding me day and night! Of course this is a hell of a pay cut but well I am not spending the money I have now (note: I do live in a place with a much lower cost of living then someplace like the valley! But also note there are alot of places all over the world with even lower) Less crap, more fun --fone
