You're right, but I think for the wrong reason. My experience has been that all java programs are faster under Windows, and I've put it down to a better JVM (perhaps better threading?).
OK, I don't get enough time as you boys, but I sure try.
For example, check out my submit stories:

No, this is *Slashdot*. We promote things like MySQL here, and ignore PostgresQL, since Slashcode is written using MySQL and not PostgresQL.
Same goes for promoting anything Ned Flanders (sorry, Larry Wall) says, since slashcode is written in Perl. This is despite the fact that Perl 6 will not be usable for at least 4 years, and will not even have the functionality the Ruby has at the moment.
Amother example - linux. 1.4.11 released, "download people!". A day later "OK, OK, it's crap, but 1.4.12 isn't - so download people!". And so on, ad nauseum. This is because slashdot runs on linux, not BSD or NT
What a boring interview. Nothing technical mentioned. And, hey, wow, SCSI layer being rewritten in 2.5.
But the biggest nonsense in the article was that 2.4 will be ready in a month. Mark my words, 2.4 will not be ready this year, and 2.6, assumming it really is more than just a rewrite of the SCSI layer, wil not be ready before 2006. probably 2007.
Sometimes there is no alternative to a real supercomputer. Some problems cannot be solved in paralel. For instance, to do big number factorisation, you still need time on a Cray (or Compaq Alpha supercomputer).
Building a "beowolf" still won't factor numbers. It might do some of the groundwork, but without that terabyte of memory that can be processed extrenely fast, you'll still be wasting your time.
I agree. It is very irresponsible to have these "LAM(e) PARTIES" in the first place, but to advertise them, well, don't blame me when the vice squad turn up at the door.

Can't speak for Sparc Solaris though.
OH Fucking Hell - the funniest thing I've read this year.
FUCKING GENIUS!!!!
And I pointed out it was all Linux Torvalds fault.
Jail is not just chroot(). Yo cnarun different kernel versions with jail()
BSD had this feature LONG ago ....
man jail(8)
That's not a troll - it's both funny and informative

Your circumcised cock, you poor sod.
And slashcode is broken again. Blame Jamie Jewboy
Perl 6 is going to take 4 years to become a reality, and it will be no better than Ruby.
Parrot will take two years to become stable, and will be no better than a JVM.
So why not
a) Hack Ruby syntax to make it perl6? (save two years)
b) Target JVMs to avoid parrot and get loadsa jarlibs for free?
Slashcode is fucked. I noticed this bug two years back
A friend tells me that Mobius is the tool to use. he uses it day in day out for document management at his bank.

We all know wheat is epxlosive.
Read up.
NT support Apache and journaling.
And files greater than 2 Gig (which linux doesn't unless you go for the "fucked VM option")
Thank you.
Hey, Hey, I try, I try!
Please add me to that list!

It hurts doesn't it - learning the WIn2K pisees on linux from a kernel point of view (not just the desktop)
Don't blame him. Is he going to use BSD fomr now on?
And securelevels kick linux butt tooo.
Good to hear he ditched his "sorry excuse for a kernel"? What's he working on now then? FreeBSD?

You heard it from me first.
Slashdot strikes again. If this was Microsoft, you'd be criticising them for releasing vapouware. But it's MySQL/linux so it's cool huh?
Get PostgresQL, a real DB. That already has all of these features, and rock solid too, not beta patches etc.
I didn't know they were into rabbits. Hmm, you learn something every day on slashdot.
Building a "beowolf" still won't factor numbers. It might do some of the groundwork, but without that terabyte of memory that can be processed extrenely fast, you'll still be wasting your time.
