NetBSD is mostly aporteble OS ( As Oposed to the secre OpenBSD and the featurefll FreeBSD ). It runs well on the PPC bt isn't very poplar and has very few propriatery apps. Now with this port it will rn those Linx propriatery apps writen for the x86 architectre.
In Other words. Wrong CPU, Wrong OS and Wrong software.
The strange thing isthat it may still be morestable than some properly integrated platforms ( I.e. MS apps for Windows on iNTEL:)

Someone has finally caved in and written an app which is functional in it's 1st public release. Meaning he probably didn't start last weak.
Now the trick is to get distributions to adopt this and extend it for none KDE apps and tune it to the specific distribution. It's not like it's from a company that can sell services around it as is and it doesn't make sense for free projects to spend too much time on the unnecessary incompatibilities between distributions.

Could this be the same modification I predicted at the time details of "Code Morphing" 1st leaked out? Basically my hunch was that Transmeta could tie a bunch of crusos together with it's code morphing so that they appear to the OS as a single CPU of immense power.
This means that you could have a machine that Linux or Win2K recognizes as simply 2 way SMP ( nearly liner scaling at that level ) but in reality it's 16 CPUs in gangs of 8. Even with the overhead from code morphing being high ( and I have no evidence that it is ) this could still perform like a 12 CPU dream machine.
Then again I may be totally wrong and this "prediction" has no connection with reality whatsoever.

Above that you have another platform in the stratusphare kept stable by jets.
And so on ontil you get out to the last haul into orbit.
breaking it up this way achives several things.
#1 if it falls it will just be a part of it. Dangerus but a lot less so.
#2 It should be more stable.
#3 It brings it somewhere within sanity. I.e. We could build some of these stages already.
#4 when there is a failure somewhere on the elevator there is usualy a stop so not everyone will be left dangling on the wire. Only a few:). Those will usualy have a way out. I.e. Back down to the last platform.
This 31 mile tower is ridiculus. For now. A few baloons hovering at 31 miles up is not however. Ask your local metrologist.

It's a US patent. Jamaica dose have a pattent process but nobody realy uses it so Jamaican inventors rutinely file in the US pattent office.
