Would business really care? The proprietary changes proposed wouldn't effect word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
Unless the proprietary changes raise prices for hardware, I don't think businesses will weigh in one way or the other.
The US is about 'rugged individualism'. The US *used to be* about 'rugged individualism'. Over the last 30 years there has been a creep towards the 'government taking care of you' (this new program is *for the children*). Every now and then the progress is checked (Reagan/Bush) but socialism is creeping in and tax rates are creeping up.
The article states that the railroad, not the insurance company wants genetic testing. And only after an accident. To what purpose?
If it is to use it as a basis for denial of coverage, then sue their a** off. As others have mentioned, if the employer/insurance wants to do testing up front to determine risk factors, then it is much more reasonable. Not much different than assigning different insurance rates to smokers vs non-smokers.

Maybe I'm lucky. I got Pacbell dsl installed 4 weeks after ordering (ok, they promised it in 3). Customer service is not great, but OK. And dl speeds stay consistent around 1Meg.
But then, living in Orange County helps:)
I agree with your sentiment. However, a teacher's certificate doesn't teach you how to be a teacher. From family and friends who are teachers, being certified means you took classes to make Johnny feel good about himself.
Why not try home schooling?
The White Plague is an excellent book. Reading the article made me think of immediately.
"Ruiner" is Chris Tom's handle. Chris runs amdzone. Hi, Chris.

Good point. Although creeping socialism really took off with LBJ's "Fair Deal" in the 60's.

I agree with your point, but the poster was pointing out that you used *like*, which makes it a simile, not an analogy.

Asus will use SDRAM or DDR SDRAM as soon as VIA releases a chip for the P4. Until then, it's rambust only.
