  1. Re:Airport Fixes? on Mac OS X 10.2.5 Update Available · · Score: 2, Informative

I just troubleshot my Airport Extreme 12" TiBook with a Linksys 4-port Wireless router. It was dropping packets like crazy, even within 5 feet of the router.

I then switched the router to channel 11, and can report great success. Give it a shot.

  2. Thanks. on Digital Asset/Project Management Solutions for Mac OS X? · · Score: 1

While it may have garnered only 17 or so comments, many of them were quite informative. I thank you all, as I now have some good leads to go on to my employer with, to backup my dislike for Meta Communications.

If you're going to be working on a new machine such as these much ballyhooed ones, then why not just use an external firewire device? These new machines are most certainly going to have the ports to do so.

Install OS X onto an external drive, put your favorite utilities on there, and have at it.

As a tech now, I look forward to the day when I can eliminate my CDs from my toolkit, and use strictly an external drive. Easier to update the software, and much quicker than running from CD.

the one problem with rsync/ssh, for Mac OS X atleast, is that it will munge the resource forks of most files. for some this isn't a problem, but if you do a lot of mac work, on files with forks, then it most definately is. setfileinfo can help sometimes, but that can be rather tedious.

  5. a note about denver on Airports As Secure As 802.11b · · Score: 2, Informative

denver has a wireless network setup throughout the airport. there's no password to get on the network, however if you try to browse the web, etc. you'll run into their proxy which will prompt for a username and password.

it's quite easy to guess their user and pass combo, just think about what they used when they had to "test" the network.

Just before Duchovny left, you could tell he was bored with the show. The whole character seemed dis-interested. Dagget brought in an interesting twist for about 3 shows, but without the pitch-hit of David and Gillian, the show just didn't have the spark it once had.

Dangling Mulder in front of our eyes in various shows, while shoving Dagget and that other girl, just made it ridiculous. Perhaps I'll watch the rest of this season, just to see the end of an era.

i can't imagine the mount would be flimsy at all. take a look at the hinge on the ibook, while it looks like it could be flimsy and the lcd could come off, it's actually quite sturdy. hell, the hinges on the titanium look like they couldn't hold that big screen either, but they're quite strong as well.

Try a century club! An alt.drunken.bastards tradition!

A shot of beer, every minute, for 100 minutes. With a perl script to remind you when to drink, and an irc session to chat with the other cc'ers.

Watching an entire channel get progessively trashed is an amusing thing.
