What I would like to see is all these vendors with critical web services band together. What if Netflix, Microsoft, Google, Wikipedia, Reddit, etc formed a sort of NATO organization? If you attack one of us we all respond?
Say Verizon slows or degrades Netflix in some way? What if then Google and the other members blocked their site\services for all Verizon customers? I know it sounds bad, but what if Verizon customers got a page stating that Verizon was breaking certain services and here is a list of alternative ISPs in your area?
Crap, I think they should get together and preemptively attack the ISPs. What if Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Reddit got together a told ISPs if you want to continue to provide access to our service you NEED TO PAY US? That would change their opinion of Net Neutrality QUICKLY! What would internet service from Verizon look like if it didn't include Google services? I think they have the upper hand if they want to play hardball....
This is brilliant! Release a letter stating that you would be interested if there is a new board. Have Icahn's board elected, which from all I have seen is completely incompetent of running the company should a merger NOT take place.
Then make a half-hearted attempt at the new merger, announce that you cannot reach an agreement and now you've hobbled another competitor without spending a dime.
Now, if they can just get their act together they could swoop in and grab some of Yahoo! market share. I can't tell if this is incompetence on Microsoft's part or pure brilliance, but it may work out great for them....
The way I see it, Verizon and AT&T wouldn't have too compelling of a product if there were no websites. How effective would they be at selling internet connections if there was nothing on the other end? Therefore, I think Verizon and AT&T are actually getting a off selling Google, MS, Yahoo, etcs. content without properly compensating them. I think Verizon and AT&T owe each and every website that has been visited from their network proper compensation!
Let see... The mainstream news is reporting "Don't go read the blogs or your PC will crash and burn." Does anyone else find it curious that blogs are one of the more potent competitors the the mainstream news in recent time? They couldn't be trying to discredit the competition?
I have the Bell Atlantic's DSL and I'm sorry to say that they are not any better. If you have any type of problem, they take your call assign a ticket number and then tell you "If your problem persists in three days call us back and open a new ticket." They used to call you back and let you know the status, or call the CO directly for updates for you but in the last several months they have eliminated that. Now, you just wait. I have had DSL for close to 18 months from Bell Atlantic. Originally there product was based on static IP addresses and recently they have moved to DHCP and the PPPOE standard. When I made some changes to my account at the end of March, they needed to convert me to the new standard. I was given April 6th as a new activation date with the new setup, which was about 2.5 weeks from when I called the changes in. SIX weeks later, they finally got my account functional and it took CONSTANT calls to support from me and hours on the phone. To make matters worse, up to recently you could wait 1 hour to get through to the first tier support. After they found that they could not help you, you would wait another hour for the second tier of support. I have to admit that has gotten much better recently. In summary, stay away from Bell Atlantic at all costs. You would think that they would be able to handle difficulties more quickly, but I think it is better to have a third party fight your battles for you. If you have lots of free time and a hands free phone maybe you won't mind.
Why is it a "sole source orderâoe? We have verified at least a few other parties have access to all the same data now....

With developments like these I am begining to think that Dvorak may be on to something in his latest PCMag.com article.

It certainly seems that the record companies are deliberately trying to sink online music sales...
