As for the percentage that are tested coming out positive. That would depend on the tests, length of time observed, and age of the person tested. In this country, Canada, it's not all that high.

  9. ADD/ADHD and Caffeine on Working with ADHD? · · Score: 1

Noticing that there are a lot of people that mention drinking a lot of caffeine during a day.

Research has shown that people have natural variations in their dopamine system, the neurotransmitter system in the brain that is most often implicated in ADD. A âoerisk taking geneâ that may be related to the dopamine system was even identified and found to be more common in people with ADD, although many people not classified as ADD also have the gene. Such people theoretically spend much of their lives looking for a âoedopamineâ fix to clear their heads. They might do this via novelty or thrill seeking, exercise, intellectual pursuits, or through artificial chemical means such as caffeine, nicotine or alcohol.

  11. Easy to hack around! on TCP/IP Connection Cutting On Linux Firewalls · · Score: 3, Interesting

I'm sure I could get around this by packet capturing on both ends of the connection and dropping any packets that would abort my connection before they are processed by the OS or application.

If I getting disconnected was really bugging me, I'm sure changing a few lines of the TCP stack code, and a quick (rather lengthy) recompile would yeild two inevitable outcomes:

    1. Less frustration from disconnects!
    2. The same (or larger) security hole than before!

    Fantastic!!!

  12. Can of Cron and a Script? on TCP/IP Connection Cutting On Linux Firewalls · · Score: 3, Insightful

I don't see how this is really that much different than running a script that intermittently drops access to certain ports.

Why do you need to ask either side of a tcp connection to abort? Shouldn't the fact that the connection is lost be enough?
If you're trying to stop large downloads run a usage tracking app to a database and temporarily block the IP. Geez.

I, like many people here, develop software. But I have to say, in this case, is this really needed? It just seems like it would be just another thing to test, configure, manage and keep up to date.

What do you do with the cd's? Coasters!
I worked at an ISP and we had them all over, cheap and easy to replace.

But the best thing to do is to wrap a slinky around a can (Dr. Pepper in my case). Then use each of the openings to put cd's in. put it on top of a monitor and people won't wave there hands around in your office for fear of knocking 100+ cd's across the room!

Age discrimination goes both ways. Everyone discriminates by age, even people here that are complaining about it. There really isn't any way to stop it, everyone just has to live with it. Yes, even you really old guys!!

What I find works the best is a good range of age and experience.

Some young guy might be able to code his ass off and finish something in one day. But you can bet no one else would want to have to read, heaven forbid maintain, that code!
