  1. Re:Real Identity? on No More Internet Anonymity · · Score: 1

Highly dependent on your setup. Your scenario is similar to setting up procmail to gpg sign and return anything you send me. While it is possible, it would be stupid to configure a system as such.

Yeah, that just isn't going to happen, RTFS. The TPM ID is essentially the endorsement key, a private RSA key baked into the device. Without hardware analysis, you are not getting it out of the TPM.

Just wait until these things become common, and their owners connect them to a wifi network ...

Nevermind malicious worms, if a motivated stalker breaks the system, which depending on how they implemented it could be fairly easy, he has the power to influence where you drive ... including that dead end in the worst part of town.

  5. Re:Simple solution on American Passports to Have RFID Chips · · Score: 1

We've seen designs for GPS tracking jammers, how about an RFID jammer, built into something small that you carry with you (eg a mp3 player), so you can turn it off quickly when there is a valid reason to read you passport. Of course, I'm sure there are laws about that as well.

  6. Dual Boot Fix on Fedora Core Doesn't Like to Dual Boot? · · Score: 2, Informative

After screwing around with it for quite some time, I took the suggestion of someone who replied to me in fedoraforum.org and set the harddrive to LBA mode from auto. Windows began to boot :-), only problem is it had to finish a repair install of windows, and now the screen goes blank after the windows startup logo. I'm not sure how related it is to the initial problem, but for anyone having problems, try forcing LBA. It may save you a lot of time.

  7. Re:Great, more crap to raise tuition.... on Penn State Students to Get Free Music From Napster · · Score: 1

I was at a meeting where students representing various organizations on campus gave opinions on what should be done. Someone mentioned your concern, but you must understand that there many such things are funded from the tuition in this very same mannor. Not everyone utilizes all of the programs, but things tend to equal out in the end.

On another note, I stressed that the solution be compatible with linux, or at least that the file format be an open standard. Doesn't look like they listened to me.

  8. Re:Linuxconf on RedHat 7.3 beta (skipjack) is out · · Score: 1

Linuxconf is on the cd. If you choose individual package selection, you will find Linuxconf buried even within Red Hat 7.2.

As for slipjack, I'm not seeing it in the redhat/linux/beta/skipjack/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/
    directory.

Yeah, I've seen Red Hat at my Walmart as well. I thought it was great -- Not that I would buy it from Walmart, but that more people could become familiar w/ the the term "Linux." All it takes is for some curious shopper to see it, and there may be a new linux user in the world.
