No CAD tools for OSX? I think you haven't looked around enough ;) Try http://www.nemetschek.com/ , makers of VectorWorks. AutoCAD-compatible formats and workflow, besides they offer the Cinema4D Rendering Package. They started on Windows, but their Mac OS X version of Vectorworks works BETTER on Macs, specially when, for example, importing floorplans from AutoCAD: on some cases the windows version might complain about layer errors, wich the Mac version fixes automatically ;) I Hope you find this useful :) Cheers

You've mada a point here. Sorry if I'm being redundant, but that's true. First of all, UNIVERSAL copy/cut/paste is something we're lacking in linux, due to different graphical enviroments; I use WindowMaker + GNUStep, and some kde / gnome apps (mainly nautilus2).
<RANT> The 'l33t' attitude of script kiddies on #linux on any irc server (supposedly helping out other users) doesn't help solving any problems at all, either. Having to manually mount each local unit before reading it is a step that should have been solved ALREADY (c'mon, how hard is it to make things simpler?)I don't care if doing it automatically exposes me to a potential security hazard in my tcp/ip stack or whatever (flame me if you feel the need)....hey! I'm running linux on a laptop, I ain't no slashdotted server getting millions of hits per second! I want a consistent, usable desktop! I want to browse the web, listen to my ogg collection, play some quake III whenever I can or use some office-like package to do my college work in a robust system that doesn't go 'bleep bleep bleep' and eats my paper (it's the...bummer). Leave the 'l33tn355' for the server room, please. </RANT>

That's my Desktop-User point of view.

BTW., I think Debian is sweeeeeet...too bad sound (specially alsa) is such a pain in the ass to set up; at least red hat got it working out of the box...*sigh*
If these problems persist on linux distros, they'll ALL DIE, and we'll switch to good ol' FreeBSD, wich at least lets me hear my oggs after the first reboot. Period.

  10. Surprise??? on Is Red Hat the Microsoft of Linux? · · Score: 1

    Let's get some things together:

    Red Hat Network
    Red Hat recommended updates
Red Hat forcin..ahem, "recommending" you to use GNOME instead of KDE (I don't really like GNOME , it's too slow)

Doesn't that look familiar? Now don't say you weren't expecting it, because these signs were clear since many months ago. They provide a robust and reliable distribution, and it's not that hard to install it, even for a newbie, that's true. I'm not bashing Red Hat. But FEE FI FOE, I smell the scent of a monopoly rising. What do you guys think?

You can come down to Chile :-) There are still no DMCA-like laws, you can pick your ideal climate (hot and sunny in the north, nice and cool in the middle, or rainy and cold in the south), the ISP's provide both good service and high speeds at reasonable prices, the cost of life isn't expensive, and you can drink under 18, although you shouldn't: it's illegal. I wonder if I can be sued by violating the Law of Gravity whenever I fall of my bike...hmmm, guess they haven't thought about it yet ... coming soon :-D KraZy-KaT
