In addition to Bing Maps, NORAD is also using a new open source, WebGL-based, 3D globe called Cesium: http://cesium.agi.com/2012/11/30/NORAD-Tracks-Santa-Tech-Preview/

This is one of the most significant uses of WebGL to date and will hopefully do a lot to increase awareness of the technology.

    Disclaimer: I work on Cesium.

What exactly is this Guy doing that is special? He talks about giving "Access" to his files, which means he's somehow denying it access in the first place. I'll reserve judgment until I can read the post, but it doesn't pass the smell test.

I've done this for years with Windows and Linux, as have most people. My biggest annoyance (and I'm sure others' too) is that we don't want to shutdown everything we're doing in Linux to boot into Windows for a little gaming. Sometimes, I want to take a break from a game to check my mail, surf the web or check on a background downloading. If I'm booting into windows for gaming, those things that I want to do in linux become unavailable.

Most people around here seem to love to trash DevStudio, unfortunately, its unjustified, it remains the best IDE out there to date (for the languages that it supports). I wish there was a Unix equivalent, I try KDevelop every now and then to see how it's coming along, but I have yet to be satisfied (and yes, I've tried eclipse).

This is where people fail to realize how the electoral system works. First off, no one has been elected president yet. States have simply held a poll to let thier electors know who people want them to vote for. The Actually election doesn't happen until the Monday following the second Wednedsay in December. If enough electors decided to switch sides and vote for Kerry, then he would become President. Kerry conceding doesn't mean he can't get elected, it just means he admits that he has lost. If it turns out that that isn't true, or if the electoral college changes it's mind, then he becomes president. Just like if the electors decided all to vote for Howard Stern, even though he isn't running, well, then he's president. See http://people.howstuffworks.com/question472.htm for more info on the electoral system.

The problem is that even though you can play quicktime under linux, doing so is still in the shady area of legality. There are no native libraries to read the sorenson codec. Currently, developers have to resort to tricks using the windows DLLs and bits from wine. As for some other complaints, it's a closed format, and protected by patents. The ability to do something isn't enough to justify it being okay. I want to be able to fully and legally do it.

I did a quick search for "percentage of porn internet usage" on google. I got a wealth of sites about porn and internet percentages relating to porn, I didn't get any porn sites themselves. Another option is to turn on google filtering so it won't show the porn sites (I had filtering off for my search and it still worked great) I don't know why you were getting only porn sites themselves.

Furthermore, for reading Office files: While I find KOffice currently no very usable for editing and working, it has an excellent Word filter that can even do 2000 documents, an Excel filter is in the works. I'm also sure StarOffice can do Word and Excel already. All and all, it's only a matter of time before your problems are solved. I'm all for making mozzila the best browser available, just as I am for making GNOME AND KDE great desktop environments, downing any open project is a Bad Thing(tm) BUT I find it hard to believe mozilla is fast and stable on a 166. I've been running the builds(out of cvs) for a long time now and it chugs slowly along even on a P3 500. So how about some honest comments for a change instead of just praising a project because you like it.

I was under the impression that AOL had opened the protocol up earlier to let clones like GAIM enact with the protocol. Wasn't this what prompted the whole Microsoft-AOL battle, where AOL kept trying to lock MS out? However, I think this is the way it should be-this will enable people to use clones of AIM without fear of compatibility issues.

AOL Actually has 2 protocols. One is the toc protocol, which is a much simpler string-based protocol that only has one server, toc.aol.com. It does not allow fine grained control such as changing passwords and such, but only provides the basic communications. OSCAR, the main AIM protocol is proprietary. Altough several attempts at reverse-engineering the protocol are in affect.
