Java Servlets are rapidly becoming an excellent alternative to doing CGI. Isn't CGI (common gateway Interface) a protocol/standard? Cause a Java Servlet is still a CGI-like program, it just doesn't use Perl. I think too many people think CGI == web-based Perl.
Yes, CGI is a protocol/standard, but servlets don't use CGI. They use hooks into the webserver, similar to mod_perl, NSAPI, etc. A CGI script could be written in Java, but I believe servlet implies that the app is not using CGI.
Vim does indeed rock. If you're a coder and like vim, check out

Tons of plugins/tips....vi is not just for sysadmins anymore.
When having a discussion on perl/C/C++ web performance, CGI should NEVER be mentioned. The question should be...
What are the advantages/disadvantages of using mod_perl, as opposed to an NSAPI/ISAPI/Apache module written in C/C++.

Basically, they look just like you, except they have goatees, because they're evil.
Dashboard was great. Made win 3.1 usable. It actually worked on win95 too after a little tweaking.
And it caused an earthquake!!!
