a freind of mine in a MUD I play, Nexus got banished (his account was deleted) when he created a website that made fun of the admin. It was (mostly) harmless, and should have been protected under use of fair parody.
However, it wasn't that way. The company contacted his ISP and had the content deleted. He had backups, so it hardly phased him, with only about a 2 hour downtime.
His problem with it though, was that they deleted the content even after he was no longer under the EULA that said he couldn't do a site like his.
He doesn't want anyone blatantly giving away the URL, but his name was genji, it was works.org
I'm 16, and I look on monster and dice and such, and I'm qualified to be making a good 100,000 dollars a year. But I'm 16, so I work at waldenbooks.
The only upside to that is that I get discounts on top of my 'prefered customer' discount.
I could wish to be older... or I could wish to go to Research Triangle Park. Mabye Hidden Mind is hiring....
I don't care what anyone says. Something that small is bound to end up inside my PC case. I like the part about the temp sensor. I could have the thing roam about taking readings, get an overall temp map.
I know it may seem lazy, but when you have to place thermistors every inch or so, it can get fairly tedious.
Of course I see the applications in the surveyliance and such, and it kinda makes me think 1984 telescreen stuff. Spooky. The best part in that book is when they thought there was no surveilance, and they were talking:
"We are the dead" Winston Said.
"We are the dead" Julia Repeated
"You are the dead" The telescreen reported.
Not something I'd like to have to deal with.
So, next time someone shows you their little tiny robot that's not for overclocking, crush it. (=
My step-dad is working for Hidden Mind, and they do alot of java stuff for wireless apps (you know, cellphones, Blackberrys, Pagers, all sorts of cool stuff, so he talks alot about bluetooth. It's such a short range at 30-40 feet. But It seems like it would be a little hard for someone to hack you while following you around. Not to mention impractcal
I just seem to full of stuff about my school today.
Anways, they have a great class at my school.
20 weeks of talking about sci-fi. The homework:he might assign you to watch dune or something to that effect.
No work, fun discusions. 1/2 credit in english or science. I only wish I could take it twice.
We have cards at my school for checking out books and stuff, which is cool. No-one really gets 'beat up' though, becuase all you need to do to get expelled is get in a fight. Not even start it, just get into one. The worst I ever had to deal with is when a kid gave me a shot to the kidney, and I turned around and returned one to the gut. I don't know what I was thinking, seeing as he was a good foot taller then me, but as I saw it, I needed to stand up for myself.
I was suspended for a week.
The kid who hit me: A nights detention.
This may be a little off topic, but he got away with just that night because I 'instigated it', meaning that he had more freinds to lie for him. The worst of it: one of them wasn't even in the class.
The moral: I should be home schooled. I'd have more time to code.
I had to ask the system admin. to allow me to veiw freshmeat. The word 'meat' was used in the title, so I was unable to go to the site.
I was eventually able to get an admin password by snooping around the school's network, and could look at hardcore porn if I so felt, but mostly I just use it so that I can install programs. They make it so that only the admin can install programs, which can be fairly annoying.
I remember when they didn't have Acrobat.
That was hell, but anyways, one of the aac (academic acheivement center) aka (computer room) people asked me if there was anyway that I could get it on there.
I did end up putting it on, but they thought it was the admin.
Wait... what am I doing telling you all this?
Forget I ever said those things. Just forget them. (=
This one may be reffered to under many names, but I got really bored once, and created a box that, according to the plans, was capable of creating tones ranging from 1-19,999 hz. However, the speaker didn't support that, so It was more like 700-20k.
Anyways, it had Five dials. One for each digit. It was cool. And accurate.

Caffine: Thanks to modern medicine, sleep is now an option.
I'm completly against the idea of something without a hard drive,or at the very least, re-writable removable media. Games (I like to stay to compliled, not interpereted, as in java) have difficulty running without some sort of hard media. Now, the internet in the sense of a crapload of html, php, jpg, gif, etc, tc, etc is great, but what about when I feel like playing a few rounds of qIII or xmame? They just don't work. Not to mention this:
The local broadband mononpoly here has these display booths. They used to be placed by babbages, and had these nice little mid-towers running windows. (9.X) There was 4 or 5, depending on the day. Now, I knew the people that were 'attending' over the booth. Some great games took place there.
Anyways, now they have these flat screen LCD'S and a 'sleek' interface, and it feels very unnatrual to be playing games on these machines. I guess I just have trouble playing a game when I cant take out a screw-driver and adjust my soundcard in the middle of it.
Just my rambling thought for today.

Ok, I can understand that they have a home market to cater to. That in not having to work in all that extra processing stuffs, that they will be able to put out a chip that appeals to the mass market.
This has to do with quite a few things:
Price: By Not Supporting something, they can lower price. This appeals to consumers
Power:They Can Get the Chips Out Sooner
Ummmm...'Specialty' Our chips are like none other!
There's probably quite a few more reasons that they would be like that. I'm not going to rush into it. FP? I hate that.

It works better with people, like 'mrhendel.usuck.com', but you could refer to a corprate entity as a person, in a sense.
microsoft.usuck.com
Just a thought.
