Yes, but don't forget that this is a setup which is running *virtual* Linux images on *one* physical machine. The previous examples are one OS per physical machine.
I suspect that one of the aims here is to get loads of people doing all sorts of weird things, perhaps deliberately trying to crash their Linux image (virtual machine), without having any effect at all on other Linux images running.
Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. We're theoretically supposed to be able to support Linux where we are (if a customer asks), but we still have many people in our area who think it is something which runs under Windows!
Well, the Newt *was* bulky, bust that was mostly the fault of the 4 AA batteries it had to contain. I find the size of the screen on my MessagePad 2000 just great as you can write on it in meetings without having to be too careful about the size and angle of the writing.
Also, many people who don't know about Newtons describe mine as 'much better than a Pilot' and are very surprised when I reveal it was made several years ago and is a relic in computing terms.
A PDA with a screen size of the MP2000 screen and a case only slightly bigger would be lovely. Keep the notepad metaphor as well, rather than messing about trying to be a desktop-type interface.
In mind of the Tivoli discussion from a couple of days back, where one observer confirmed the existence of the Tivoli distributed management Framework for Linux, but suggested Tivoli won't release it until they have a customer to showcase it with, maybe this is a good opportunity for Tivoli to try things out.
I for one wish they would hurry up with it - I'm a Tivoli hacker at IBM and *I* haven't seen it yet.
