After all, Yahoo has to figure out some way to make up for all that lost porn money!

  2. Palamino benchmark on Is Your P4 Working At Half Speed? · · Score: 1

I just saw this on Stomped. 2cpu.com put up a Sandra screenshot yesterday of a 1.99 GHz dual Palamino. I'm skeptical about the accuracy of the picture but if the scores are true then Intel has a lot to worry about.

  4. CPU price cuts don't matter on Pentium IV As A Budget Processor · · Score: 1

as long as Intel sticks to the sinking ship known as Rambus and RDRAM. I checked out Sharky Extreme's latest memory price guide. 256 MB of RDRAM is $288. Compare that to $103 for 256 MB of Crucial PC2100 DDR RAM or $99 for 256 MB of PC133 CAS2 SDRAM. And if you want generic PC133 SDRAM you can get it for about half of that price. The CPU prices may be more compariable now between the Pentium 4 and Athlon but include memory prices and your price/performance still heavily favors AMD.

Doom 3 will without a doubt have it's fair share of detractors, but it will also push a lot of new NV20, 25, and even 30 (?) cards as well as cpu's out the door.

  7. Re:$500 (Aftermarket) on GeForce 3 Review on Adrenaline Vault · · Score: 1

Well actually, I'm seriously thinking about buying an Athlon 1.33 GHz processor. It's priced at $222 after price cuts this past week. Considering the overall cost of building a new pc, I think the $47 extra cost over a 1.1 GHz thunderbird is only a "modest" price increase. But I do agree with your point. I'm also going to be buying a $155 32 MB Geforce 2 GTS Pro card. The price is right and the price/performance is damn good compared to a $500 Geforce 3 card.
