It cant even do alpha channel, hardware scaling, rotation, and polygons in the interface.
Until Xfree86 allows you to use all your video cards special effects on the interface, then theres not many ambitious projects you can do because everything that can be done is already being done in terms of making an interface better than Windows98, its done, KDE is on XPs level right now.
In terms of making something compareable to OSX that hasnt been done, E17 will try to do it, but E17 is using software tricks because Xfree86 is so weak.
Perhaps by promoting berlin you'd get more people to develop window managers.
If berlin were supported, Then i have some ideas, but we need a better backend which allows hardware specific effects while also we need to add stuff such as voice recognition, video recognition(to replace passwords) and so on.
Perhaps anyone reading my Msg will start a project and do just that.

Normal today is 256 megs of ram, UPGRADE!!! Linux Mandrake is not made to compete with Windows98, its Competiting with WindowsXP and OSX, both which require about 256 megs of ram, which means Mandrake requires 256 megs of ram.
I have 256 megs of ram and it runs smooth as hell, much faster than Windows 2000.
But hey if you only have 64 megs of ram i guess its going to run slow as hell eh? Trying to run next generation software on first generation hardware is not going to work, At least not if you run KDE, You can try running blackbox.
Stop making stupid excuses, either you compile the kernel yourself, or you dont use Linux because its too powerful for your weak machine
Weak machines cannot run state of the art software, Thats why people upgrade.

Isnt this why people buy these new Pentium 4s with 512 megs of ram??????? YES!! To run more powerful software, stop running a 386. I'm tired of software lagging drastically behind the hardware because some people are afraid of upgrading.

Get a faster harddrive, if mozilla is slow you are most likely using cheap IDE crap.
Now, if you have a modern computer THEN you may use modern browsers and modern software, if you have a computer which was made before Netscape 4.7 was released, then you should be using netscape 4.7, your computer will never be powerful enough to run mozilla.

When a Computer is playing chess, its not going to play games like that, at blitz speed.
No computer ever has started with the kinds of openings seen in the movelists, and if its a blitz game theres not enough time for a human to be using the computer in the backround to help him.
Not to mention this annoymous fischer has played fischer random chess as well and that style of chess no computer can properly play.
This is what we need to give everyone a good education.

Better teachers are also needed, so we need more specialized teachers and this should start in elementary school NOT middleschool. Teachers should be very specialized, meaning they dont go to school to learn alittle of everything buy to learn all of one thing.
Students should be very specialized in school, instead of focusing on making well rounded students, Students should be able to choose exactly what they want to learn and how much they want to learn about it.
By giving students freedom, it makes them learn to ENJOY learning, Learning doesnt feel like a chore if you are learning what you WANT to learn.
These key things wuold make everyone smarter, yet more specialized, everyone would be a genius in their own given field.
Eventually those jobs at mc donalds wont exsist, i give it 10 years, 10 years from now people wont work at mc donalds, a computer will most likely give you your food a the push of a button from a machine.
kinda like you can buy a tonic now without going to a store.
