Watch out - I got burned by FC 2. The 'ant' (java equivalent to Make) is broken in FC 2. And the named install (BIND) has all the config files moved from where it is in RH. I have no idea what other things might be different so tread carefully.
Reminds me of another project where they installed fiber optic cable through sewer lines so they didn't have to tear up the streets. They are at City Net. I wonder what is next? Power through my cable tv line?
Anyone think that the article reads like the plot to a Tom Clancy novel? Or maybe something from Stephen King? Guess we need something new to panic about now that Y2K has come and gone...
This is interesting - they have no ads
on their pages. How do they expect to make
money (and stay in business)? Not that
I am complaining - I like the clean interface
of google and teoma.
Everytime I read another one of these "Life on Mars" articles I wonder if it isn't a NASA conspiracy to keep the public interested in space exploration and thus keep the dollars flowing (from Congress). Seems that everytime I turn around there is there is some new controversal space story (i.e. space tourists, life on mars etc etc).
Hack up sendmail to check a database of allowed FROM and IP addresses for Verizon customers who are blocked. This should prevent the spam and still allow legitimate email.
I wonder if anyone would be interested in that - or if they will simply jump ship to another ISP. Or maybe provide this patch to Verizon?
Anyone know what the seed that they used
to pick the "random" IP addresses the worm hit? My system has been hit 23 times in the last 24 hours.
I'd love to find the seed and lookup the list of IP addresses. Then setup a server on one of those addresses and get a good count of the infected machine!
Been there - done it in 4 rack units (16 drives)...
I work with streaming media so it's not unusual.
The case we used Q416
Dual Processor P3
16 80GB IDE
3Ware IDE Raid Controller (2 of the 7800s)
4 rack unit case
You can configure the whole thing at QSOL.com
Next I want to do a Quad Xeon with 16GB
of RAM. Throw on VMWare (how about 32 1/2GB virtual machines?) and that many drives and you'll have a very nice machine (I figure less
than 700 per virtual machine).
The correct name is Abhay Bhushan (not Bushan).

UPS doesn't ship hazardous material anymore. I guess you'll have to us FedEx instead.
Do they still vacinate people for smallpox? I thought they stopped in the 80s.
