I chuckle about the school argument for either high taxes or paying more for real estate for a "better" school district: "Quality schools" is liberal code for "non-minority". NYC and DC have high taxes and high spending on schools but score lower than, say, Indiana. Growing up in a working class region in Pennsylvania, the solution for kids who felt challenged by the school's slow curriculum was simply to skip grades and graduate early and take summer classes at community college. Problem solved.

Er, no. One of the claims of the global warming faithful is that a "consensus" of scientists agree with it's dogma while those who disagree are branded as heretics, er, non-scientists. Looking with one's eyeballs to criticize Mann is a good way to lose funding or status in the politically correct academic community. The problem with a faith that bases itself upon consensus and agreement is that it's not very credible as a group of skeptics. That's why most Americans are unbelievers in Global Warming.

In the meantime, Europe is now dropping it's global warming agenda and starting fracking.

And PSU was notified several times about Sarduski's conduct and didn't see anything wrong. Or let's try another one: GW Bush has been investigated by several organizations for wrongdoing in the Iraq war conflict and they never found anything. Or the Warren commission found that JFK was assassinated by a lone gunman.

"Science" apparently believes that after certain "investigations" are concluded, free speech has to stop.

The Vatican was more open minded....

Praise Science! Those who disagree with Scientific Faith must be punished!

Feminists in general love to deny they are misandrist (or man haters) but then it becomes obvious that they hate men. Such as pushing the way men have been forced out of primary education under the rug. It's argued that men don't want the lower pay. OK. That's a valid claim but when it's observed that women tend to earn less than men because women make different choices, those same feminists will say that shouldn't matter and demand preferential quotas. When women get more money in child-support or welfare, they don't push or argue for the state to alter family court laws. Feminism is a shell game of looking at equality ONLY when it favors women.

Ironically, the influx of immigrants from patriarchal cultures are making all of this moot. Ultimately, women will be forced back into the kitchen by feminism's alliance with anti-European leftism.

  5. Re:Corn is FOOD on Can the US Be Weaned Off Ethanol? · · Score: 1

No, corn is gasoline power since the amount of resources it takes to fertilize and harvest the corn (gasoline) and then refine it are almost all "fossil fuel" based.

I think the estimate is that something like 0.8 gallons of gasoline is needed to produce 1 effective gallon of ethanol. Putting aside the net economic loss there's the environmental factor on the soil to tear up the land in order to play gasoline conversion games.

If NASA is supposedly generating income
for the economy through their patents, then
that could go toward privitization. Also:

    1) Lottery away spaces on a Mars flight
(provided the person to go will survive the trip)
    2) Sell stock with voting rights to the
shareholders for which projects should be
    funded.

A compromise would be to give every current
taxpayer an appropriate share of stock
and lottery tickets to sell as they like
on the open market. If the stock dives,
then that's a sign that nobody really
    wanted the programs anyway...

First off, the notion that the ballot was complex is just sour grapes hogwash from the losing side. The ballot was designed by their own party and is in use in other states. There is no requirement that voting be designed so that a total idiot will have a foolproof experience. On the contrary, idiocy is grounds for legally denying someone a vote in at least a few states (but we have to be careful with that definition!) Voter fraud is a problem that should be addressed and the internet can help provide verification that a ballot hasn't been altered.
