  1. ratings on TiVo Usage Info Collected For Sale · · Score: 1

Seems to me, this would be a great way to collect viewing information. Better than having to fill out the Nielson(sp?) diary thing. I'd be more than happy as long as it's anonymous and I get something out of it (like a better viewing experience, money, discount, etc.)...and as long as there is a way to say 'no thanks', I can't see that there's anything wrong w/ this. Better than companies that send info to their site when you install a program (especially when they don't ask/tell you)...blah

Censorship stinks. I don't like it one bit, and when my own government tries to do it, I like it even less. First they censor porn, then they start censoring sites like letsriot and others that disagree with what they think is right and true. Sick thing is, I was on cnn.com earlier today and the poll asking if libraries should be required to censor porn had 70% saying yes...what the hell is wrong with the people in this country?!?

  12. don't see XFree86 going anywhere... on Berlin Project Lead Holds Forth · · Score: 1

While Berlin may be a great project with great ambitions, it's going to be a while before XF86 goes away. The key to gaining acceptance and users for a product/project is being the first good implimentation to come around and be used by the masses. While unices in general aren't used by the masses, those that do use them are likely using xfree and aren't going to change until something comes along that makes xfree obsolete...how long's it going to be before most companies switch to Win2000 from 95/98/NT? I'd say double or triple that time period, and you might have something to viably replace xfree86.
