Canada supposedly does the same, but it hasn't shut the copyright lobby up one bit. Unfortunately, the governments in power tend to listen to them more than us.

It is actually exactly that, they are not implementing any "new" policy at rapidshare. This actually sounds nearly identical to the system they used up until megaupload started getting very popular and they dropped the wait times and stopped throttling free users.

I never realized that *calling* a drug dealer was crime. Now I could understand it a bit more if the call was to purchase illegal drugs from him, but it is not possible to know that until the call is in progress at best.

I read the indictment, one aspect I found interesting were the emails that referenced their attempts at ripping all of youtube for megavideo. I was under the assumption that all of those videos are protected by copyright. Why is the DOJ not charging them with the willful copyright infringement of each and every video that was ripped from youtube and broadcast on MegaVideo? It seems clear to me the DOJ is only interested in protecting the copyright of the big businesses, those youtube users don't matter.
