  1. yeah, get a job! on What Do You Do When CS Isn't Fun Any More? · · Score: 1

don't worry, i too went to school for CS, yet i only lasted about a year and a half, when i started telling professers that they were wrong about a particular topic, namely C, and they would argue that i didn't know squat, and i'd ask them when the last time they did that, and they would reply, "a year or two ago", then they say, "well, when have you ever done that?" and i'd say "well, last night, with the help of some irc folk, and you're wrong!" so i quit. what i'm saying is, you've gotten this far, charish the degree as you'll be one of few that actually have it, then get a job, things will get more challenging and hopefully you'll be able to do something meaninful with it...

  2. mp3.com is crap... on Other Online Opportunities for Independent Musicians? · · Score: 1

why are we even discussing this on slashdot? they're a corporation making money off of artists, what's new about that? they suck and always have. even with the cut in royalties the same schlep artists will continue to use them because that's the only place they can put it. real musicians find alternate means of distribution, it's called "going to shows, playing shows, making friends, interaction with real people, selling product!". interesting concept eh? mp3.com music sucks! face that music...

  3. where's my damn copy anyway on Linux Game Programming · · Score: 1

i'm glad to get an outside opinion on the book, because up until now i was very anxious about getting the book. i did order a copy a month ago. what pisses me off is how'd all these copies get out for reviews when they're telling me another month before they'll ship? i'll probably still obtain my copy (if that ever happens) for the simple fact that there's no other books on Linux game programming. it's a step in the right direction. hopefully they'll get it right next time. Maybe it's o'riley's turn to join in, they've never let me down! hint hint...

  4. interesting! on Typosquatting Held Illegal · · Score: 1

Being an advocate of free speach, i agree with many points of view brought up by this piece, however, i'd like to point out one important aspect that we all so easily seem to forget. Values! We need to keep laws like this from hindering our rights, yet most people continue to have this capitalist approach to what they consider, "legal business tactics". It's time people grow up, and we weed out the scum-bags in the industry. If we're to stop constraints on free-speach, we need to prove that we're worthy of it first. People like this are a sad excuse for free-speach, get an original idea if you want to make some money, or get a job sweeping floors, we don't need you on the web!
