They better, Asia is the contenent that's the greatest net emmiter of CO2 in the world, after them it's Africa, then Europe, then North America; Antartica is at breakeven, South America is a net sequesterer and surprisingly Australian is the biggest land CO2 sink.
" The GCMs really do not seem to work." why do you think that? they work very well. They have even lead us to make new discoveries about the climate.
" They clearly run way too hot. " no, they doi not. Another baseless statement I suspect you have no clue how models work. in general, much less in any specific field.
When I keep seeing graphics like this and and this which all show the majority of computer climate models over-prediction the current temperatures.
I'm going to ask you a question. If you can not answer it, then you need to STFU and learn some science.
My turn, What is Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity and how much is it? for extra point don't WattsUpWithThis, Skeptical Science or Wikipedia.
This might be an interesting concept, a combined land/water speed record where the land speed is made with the boat trailered, then the boat's speed on water is added to that, of course the boat would have to be launched from the trailer and tow vehicle. That would be right up Top Gear's alley.
There's going 300MPH and there's going 275MPH with a four man crew and 14 grunts onboard, a Bugatti Veyron can go 254MPH but you can't tow a boat with it.
The LLNL-led research shows that climate models can and do simulate short, 10- to 12-year "hiatus periods" with minimal warming, even when the models are run with historical increases in greenhouse gases and sulfate aerosol particles. They find that tropospheric temperature records must be at least 17 years long to discriminate between internal climate noise and the signal of human-caused changes in the chemical composition of the atmosphere.... The research team is made up of Santer and Livermore colleagues Charles Doutriaux, Peter Caldwell, Peter Gleckler, Detelina Ivanova, and Karl Taylor, and includes collaborators from Remote Sensing Systems, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, the University of Colorado, the Canadian Centre for Climate Modeling and Analysis, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.K. Meteorology Office Hadley Centre, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Of the 7 sources 7 were flat or possible cooling while the CO2 line still trended up, and the 17 years wasn't just cherry picked, although I can't find the actual quatation, I believe Hanson said if there were no warming for 15 years that global warming would be falsified, then as 15 years passed, some else said 17 years would be the falsification point. So now we're just months shy of 18 years, the expected El Nino is turning mild, and this solar cycle is looking mild as well the prospects of some warming in the near future is unlikely so for the climate to reproduce the temperatures predicted by the models for this century is going to take some real hell fire to get there.
GISTEMP has been modified, adjusted, had so many unreliable stations that it's laughable; USCRN is the only ground based network that is reliable but woodfortrees doesn't have it, but they do has satelite data, but RSS data strongly implies a cooling trend.
My Dad's water well had methane, not the "chemical analysis report" kind of methane but the water fizzed like soda pop kind of methane. There were no oil or gas well, nor were there any coal mines, just an oil seep down by the river. We pretty much avoided glass water glasses because pressure surges from the methane would knock the glass out of our hands.
Powerline Electricity has a wavelength of 6000 Km, which means that it's highly likely that even without loads connected to the grid, the constructive and destructive interferences of the different generators which is very likely to be analysable to produce a geographic area within a knowable error radius. Start adding in unique charecteristics like dead-spots in the generator's comutators, odd harmonics caused by the unique differences in how the stators are wound and even the number of stators used, and we're getting to the question of whether is works in reality or just in theory, and if it does, does it work better and easier than other methods.
GPS chips are pretty much everywhere and would provide an extremely accurate time reference, this could allow locations to be infered from power line conditions. Knowing this is at least plausable, counter-measures would be vary from trivial to very complicated, one could even record conditions at one location and inject them into a video recorded in a different country.
Some people are seriously sensitive to Fluorescent bulb flicker and others are sensitive to the low CRI of the fluorescent bulbs typically purchased by offices or landlords; which make having CFL's, halogens or incandescent bulbs an ADA in some workplaces. Electronic ballasts elliminate flicker and save energy, I've noticed that the rooms that I've replaced burned out magnetic ballasts with electronics seem to get used more and the rooms with CRI bulbs 85 or higher get used more as well. Additionally the electronic ballasts seem to be able to light the bulbs longer.
I have a hard time thinking of England as a good place for solar pannel installations, my mental image is a damp, cloudy, chilly place dominated by rain driven by the Gulf Stream influences; more like our Pacific Northwest temperate rain forrests in Oregon and Washington. I hate to think of people on fixed incomes dying of hypothermia because they couldn't afford to both heat their homes and pay for their solar pannels to fight global warming that hasn't happened for 18 years.
Germany doesn't sell daytime power "at a loss". Power at night on the European grid doesn't sell for high prices. Show some citations, ye of eyebrow raising claims.
Well let's see;
Over the weekend, prices on the power exchange in Germany/Austria (Phelix) fell to roughly -2 cents per kilowatt-hour for peak prices and were also slightly negative at around -0.3 cents for baseload power. The effect of solar and wind in France was even more dramatic, though the roles of baseload and peak power were reversed, with the former costing -4 cents and the latter -2 cents. Negative power prices on the weekend
Selling at a negative price is pretty much the ultimate definition of "at a loss". This is reinforced by
Norbert Allnoch, director of the Institute of the Renewable Energy Industry (IWR) in Muenster, said the 22 gigawatts of solar power per hour fed into the national grid on Saturday met nearly 50 percent of the nation's midday electricity needs. Never before anywhere has a country produced as much photovoltaic electricity," Allnoch told Reuters. "Germany came close to the 20 gigawatt (GW) mark a few times in recent weeks. But this was the first time we made it over." Germany sets new solar power record, institute says
That's a lot of power to have to replace when the sun goes down or the weather turns to shit.
I didn't mean that as demeaning to people who are truely skilled at HTML and graphic arts and it is something that my brain just isn't innately wired for doing; but there are a lot of diploma mills that will cover PHP, Perl and Apache administration in half a semester and JavaScript and Flash in the other half. People with these "Web Programmer" certificates often mistake themselves for procedural language programers.
When versioning was a problem, most hosts had multiple versions of PHP so you could choose the one that worked, and if one didn't work it was mostly due to your code being sloppy and using techniques that were depreciated for years prior. Now it's usualy due to your code depending on an insecure settings in the php.ini file and again being depriciated for years.
What foundations do that? I agree that they are not non-profits if they are charging support or consulting fees. Usually they don't do that.
Excuse me but that is exactly what "Based on ability to pay means", if they can squeeze a "charging support or consulting fees" out of you they do a suprising amount of time. 501(c)(3)'s are some of the biggest rackets there are; but never count on the USG to not throw out the baby with the bath water.
July 1936 was the hottest month in the temperature record, then it wasn't, now it is again; so who is the denialist? RSS temperature data set shows no warming for 17 years and even hunts at a possible cooling, UAH temperature record shows no significant warming for 17 years and the USCRN even shows a 10 year pause in warming; so again who is the denialist?
On what planet do you live where it's considered critical thinking to increase taxes on an industry that has been so decimated by subsidized renewable power that they literaly have paid people to use the power so the grid isn't damgaed by the over-supply? Renewables aren't manageable so they're goin to need a lot more peaking capacity and that'll mean selling your souls to buy up more of Putin's fracked Natural gas. You watermelons will not be happy untill anything resembling human civilization has been reduced to ruin.

Your right as far as you went, but you forgot to mention that there has been no warming for almost 18 years anyways; Oh wait no citation, Here is one.

You just have to filter out the people who list HTML as programming.
just use English;!

Almost 97% of CO2 comes from natural sources. Will this satellite be able to magically distinguish between sources? No. More wasted $.
Well yes they can tell because "man-made" CO2 is "special", it is inherently EVIL(tm), where non-man-made CO2 is plain!
But water vapor and solar output isn't controllable, and Control is what it's really about.
