  1. Don't want to deal with real life on Fighting the Scourge of Gaming Addiction · · Score: 1

I think it all really depends on the personality. I have a friend who divorced her husband and left with the kids because he would never leave EQ. Everytime I saw him he was sitting in front of the computer.

It got to be really bad. But the extreme to which he took it was totally based on how much he didn't want to deal with real life. I have met a few DND players who put tremendous game time in because they don't have to deal with reality.

I'm not saying all gamers get addicted because they are trying to escape reality, don't get me wrong I like a good 8 hour DND game. But the extremists may not be happy with life in general to begin with.

  2. Myst III Exile Collector's Edition on Myst III: Exile Review · · Score: 1

I received the Collector's Edition for my birthday. It has the 4 game disks, the soundtrack, a strategy guide and a pewter "squee" (alien mouse).

The game plays great. The only problem I has was that I could not use the Hardware video rendering. I had to use the software option. Whenever I tried to use the hardware option, the screen would flicker black and then put me on my desktop.

It's a great game and such an improvement from the original Myst. You can pan around and up and down so you don't miss any detail.

  3. Psychotropic Drugs got anything to do with it? on Are Kids Turning Your Kids Into Killers? · · Score: 1

It has nothing to do with video games or music. Most psychotropic drugs they prescribe for school children contain serious mind altering chemicals that can create psychotic behavior. Ritalin, Prozac and Cylert are the popular ones right now. Most of the kids who go crazy and start shooting people at school are on some type of prescribed drug. I know it may sounds weird to some of you, but prescription drugs are BIG business. Getting more and more kids on them makes these companies allot of money. Schools can get more government funding based on the number of kids who are referred for psych drugs.

The beauty of it is that people would never look to the drugs being the cause because they are suppost to "cure the child". It is brushed off as "we didn't get him on the prescription soon enough" and "he/she was crazy already because they were being treated for mental problems" when it was this very thing that makes them go crazy. The side affects of mental drugs can and do produce the same effects as cocaine, heroine, LSD and others.

When someone who is high flips out and kills someone, the drugs are blamed. Mental drugs are never blamed since they are suppost to be "helping". The psychiatric community has no proof that the drugs they are prescribing have any affect on what they are suppost to cure. But like said...prescription drugs are big money.

You can find controversial data on psychiatric drugging all over the net. Compare the statistics of the rate of psych drugs on school children to the rate of school shootings and you will find they run side by side.

  4. Re:Can they fight the haX0rs? on More Napster Than You Can Shake A Copy-Protected MP3 At · · Score: 1

They have an enormous task in front of them when it comes down to banning certain files. Just think of the work load. They are going to realize all that effort is in vain once the l33t h4x0rs out their get thier hands on it. Thier idea seems great, but allot of people will know how to get around anything they throw out there as far as protection, etc. Whatever they do, I think it is only going to be a case of "keeping honest people honest".

  5. Re:Add, don't subtract on When Is Exchange Inappropriate For The Enterprise? · · Score: 1

I agree. But you can get a program from www.sunbelt-software.com that makes exchange more manageable. It is called "Real View". I lean more towards the unix side myself. However, in my company where there are sales people, you need the GUI of Outlook to keep them running. Otherwise you might as well give classes. :)
