I have the RCA RCU-810. It has backlit keys, a backlit LCD display and support for 8 different devices. I got it on eBay for less than $50. It has a ton of buttons for regular device features as well as 3 custom buttons that can be programmed to many things:
1) You can aim your original device remote at the RCU-810 and program the custom button to perform the same action as the original button.
2) You can also program the custom buttons as a "button macro". That is, you can program one button to perform the actions of several button pushes. For example, I have one button that toggles the on/off state of every component in my system.
