  1. Tell that to Ben :) Re:No wearable potential here on Portable Linux Box · · Score: 1

Hope she doesn't mind - I dug this link up a couple months ago. her site . Think it'd be better to put all that in a backpack.
I was actually considering the cappuccino because its onboard eth it has now but I may more likely go with a sony picture book.

for those interested in other alternatives

  2. Re:This could be vastly improved on Portable Linux Box · · Score: 1

The cappuccino G1 does come with ethernet (look at all the saintsong posts).

Im considering it but possibly intead I may get a sony picture book($1,700 with my 15% discount) instead (firewire included and a monitor and keyboard that could be rarely used when called for and battery life should be a bit better - a con of course is the processor power - size wise it "may be" longer but thinner).

There are pluses and minues to both of these systems.

Course if your are not looking at size being critical and are not going to be toting this thing around all the time by all means buy a normal PC or laptop (perhaps a G4 titanium).

Ya ah huh. Benny at MIT is using the first version as a wearable. Shes likes to tote weight around though. Uses sony lion batteries.

I must admit I only did one quick search, found free school course links
but was curious where everyone else goes to learn? (ie howstuffworks.com, etc...)
Anyone know of better sites that have it all put together, preferably with professor type of input and quality and material kept current? It seems like the person who put together the above site took enough time to get links to the basic classes.
Having a non profit type page I think would be difficult to keep material up to date and for some courses it would be better to just have links to the horses mouth (ie java.sun.com for Java)
I like the idea even though it has its pitfalls ( example- less than perfect human interaction, although I think this will get better. If high speed multiple video connections were used, along with that smell box, course touch will have to wait for that full body sensory suit)

Also there is a D2 specifically for linux, you just copy a few files from the CD on over, and there is Kali for linux. Worked fine for me awhile back.

Not sure about that battle.net though.

To get more back on topic, Just purchase the TT it comes with a rather nice audio system and I dont think you'll miss the ps2 dvd player. :)

I had two PII333's overclocked to 500 running smoothyly until my peltiers dripped on my board :(
I had them at standard 2.0volts- they seem to need to be at 2.3 volts with a little bit of a load to keep them warm enough so the condensation doesnt form - doh!

For the moment Im now running one in a cheap bx6v2 board and have no problems -

Im thinking of gettting that cheap mother board that the power 2 u dude PC uses - EPOX EP-KP6-BS and sticking both of them in again.

I haven't read up on the slockets - Is there a slot adapter for basically just doing the voltage? (IE my cards are already slot 1 and dual capable - but I don't want to tape any pins.)

If you happen to have PQ magic, and it freezes and wont work like mine did and your NT/98 what have you resides on one partition Or You lack funds Or you just got this itch and want to scratch it.

    Read the readme on fips.
Defrag your drive, so that your assuming everything on the end is now free space.
Use fips , Chop off your partition where you want it, use whats left over for linux.
Was very quick and easy for me.

OR - If like me you dont want to dual boot and/or maybe just like to use two or more OS's at once

    use
    http://www.vmware.com/

very nice stuff - and very easy to setup,

course if you don't get the beta you'll be paying for it, and the only thing I would want, which I should probably ask them about, is that it doesn't seem to support devices that have drivers only under the virtual OS, thatd be nifty.
    - IE I have special card with drivers for NT - I must use vmware for NT and run linux on top of it which I'd really rather not.

Yep, Yep, Yep -but only cause I try'd to run out of specs and didn't notice that it was that hot

was running asus p2b-ds - board is hosed up now though, burn marks on the agp port and over to the pci, try'd throwing a pci video card in but didn't work.

Have Two PII 333's both overclocked - 500mhz a piece - I did run for a little while at 112 bus, but not to long before I put it back down to 100 bus.

have one scorched video card,at least its still live though and one dead one.

I am planning on putting the 333 each in their own cheaper system(IDE) and using my current parts(UW SCSI) for a new dual celeron.

I will be interested to see how well the clustering does.
