  1. Re:Wait until ISPs get accounts cancelled on Australian P2P Sites Disappear Overnight · · Score: 2, Insightful

I don't think people will cancel their accounts but will instead opt for lower quota/speed plans to save some money. For gaming, downloading the usual patches, service packs, etc, broadband is still the only way to go. A 256K plan would be more than adequate for such purposes.

P2P (I include NG's here, if not strictly p2p) has been one of the 'killer apps' that make broadband a commodity worth paying big bucks for. ISP's have known this and were quite happy to accept payment for users of their infrastructure to download 'warez'. Note, I do not say that they explicitly condone this, just that they are aware of it.

As for me, it's all good. arrr me hearties!

The question is, what constitutes secondary education in these places? Are they public school systems or fronts for extreme political/religious movements such as the madrassas found in Pakistan?

There is differences in the term, "educated". Rote learning which may impart the ability to read and write but not think critically.

I'm looking at the Netspace lite flat rate plan and they implement shaping (56K). Still much better than dialup as it actually downloads/uploads at 56K. Pity iinet aren't yet based in the N.T.

Hitler was a fool. He insisted on conducting the war from his bunker(Wolfs lair) in Prussia. Alledgedly he even dictated where his troops were to fight, even from which building to take, based on a map which showed which platoon held which building. He didn't leave the war to his capable generals, instead sacking them, if they disagreed with his plans. Yes, the scale of the German defeat in Stalingrad was unnecessary. Kursk was Hitler's (aka one nut) idea as he believed he could smash the red army tank divisions and repeat the mass encirclement victories Germans had achieved early on in the east. The outcome of Kursk was indecisive, with both sides taking massive casualties. The difference was the Soviets had their weapons producing factories safe in the Urals, while German war production was being hampered by bombing raids from Allies. Yanks by day, Brits by night. The German movie Stalingrad was for me a completely enlightning experience about war. It left no illusions that there is no glory to be found. Instead, being maimed, killed or subjected to the worst that man can do to one another is more likely. Saving Private Ryan, for me, after the initial sequence, was a big let down. I have yet to see Enemy at the Gates.

Actually the Germans were well equipped, using MP40 schmeisser sub machine guns, MG42 machineguns for support at a platoon level. The Germans however did lack proper winter eqipment. As time went on the Luftwafte could not fulfill their promise to resupply ground forces with basic necessities. The Russians were better equipped for winter warfare.
